YOUR POV:

My eyelids fluttered open, staring up at the high ceiling. I turned my gaze over towards the space in the bed where the redhead occupied, finding her space cold and empty and I frowned. Sitting up a little on the plush mattress, I found a note

Waking up next to you has got to be my favorite thing to do now if I'm being honest. You're so beautiful. I'm sorry I'm not there to wake up with you but I promise I won't be gone too long. I'm covering Thor's patrol for him. Some family emergency with Jane came up and before you ask or start to overthink, it's not supernatural. I promise. I'll be home soon xo

Signed your big bad sexy wolf

The note brought a smile to my face even though I was a little bummed I couldn't wake up next to her this morning. I hoped everything was okay with Jane and her family. Deciding to get up from the bed, I wanted to check on Peter since he did stay over last night. Before doing so though, I made the bed and freshened up a little bit.

The living room was glistening with warm sunshine even the birds were happily chirping outside. Peter was sitting up on the couch, looking even more drained and weak; the purple bags under his eyes looked like they were heavy. The boy was staring at his phone all brightly lit up showing off Aunt May's beautiful smile.

"Morning." I spoke softly to try not to scare him.

"Good morning." Peter croaked, keeping his eyes locked on the picture.

"Did you sleep okay?"

"I tried." He whispered, looking away from the picture and staring at the wall ahead of him, "But everytime I closed my eyes..."

I inhaled a breath and came over and sat down next to him on the couch, the boy falling into my lap and his screen dimming. Instantly I soothed him and ran my fingers through his messy hair.

"It's okay. You don't have to say anything else." I cooed.

Peter sniffled, "I was going over there to get some clothes. Clint told me I could stay with him and Laura for a few days just to make sure things were safe enough for me to go back to May. I was planning on apologizing to her, tell her how sorry I was. I was a dick to her when you and I were- when- well when I was being a dick to you. Now I'll never have that chance."

PETER'S POV:

"no." y/n breathed, her fingers running through my tousled hair as I rested my head on her lap, "you won't. That's why we have to try to be better people. For them."

I closed my eyes for a second and took a deep breath in and exhaled shakily, opening my eyes again, "I said some pretty hurtful things all because I was angry. Now she'll never know I loved her."

"She knows."

I sat up and looked at her, shaking my head, "How could she? How could she possibly know? I can't be a better person for her? I was fine. I was great! And then this curse and now I don't even know who I am and if I don't know then how can she know? I'm a ghost to her." I scoffed.

"You're not a ghost. You're Peter Benjamin Parker." she cupped my face, her cool hands felt nice against my warm skin, "You're the son of two brilliant scientists and the nephew to a charming Uncle Ben and a beautiful and strong Aunt May. You're friends with some pretty amazing people and they all loved you with all of their hearts, no matter how mean you can be. Curse or no curse, the love doesn't change. May knew how much you loved her, whether it was spoken or not. She knew. How could she not when the love shines right through your big brown eyes."
