-JuweePETE's POV:
"Well, I expected you to lose muscle but you seem to be in very good shape. If anything, your muscle mass has increased, Pete" Phi Chan comments on my physical fitness results.
I never gave up on working out. I might never admit it but the soreness from the daily workout makes me feel stronger and I need to be as strong as possible.
Besides, I carry a heavy baby all day and night, it feels like I'm carrying a heavy dumbell all the time. Who would lose muscle when you live like me? Shia I wonder if that milk formula is made of crushed stones that made my son very heavy my shoulders and arms feel like they'd disconnect but it's okay. I'd not have it any othe way. My son keeps me going and I will make sure I protect him, no matter the cost.
"Why did you go out of Khun Noo's room without informing him, Aunt Lou?"
"That man, Khun Korn told me to bring Venice to the poolside for some fresh air. I was scared to say no and just went ahead. And then I met your ex there. I was really nervous because you said not to expose Venice to anyone you don't approve of!"
That conversation has made me reach a decision. I'm going back in even if it means as a bodyguard again.
I must be vigilant as well. Even though I don't have much range of motion and resources, it's best to shoot at close range. Or at least lock a target if ever they are trying to get my son involved.
Trust no one.
One of the many lessons Vegas forced me to learn. I still believe there are people you are to trust, just not to the full extent. People are naturally driven by self-interest. That doesn't exempt me.
Khun Korn may be someone I look up to but the reasons I do makes me doubtful of him. He is a man who helps those in need, a father who lets his children be who they want to be.
Aside from that, though, he's a billionaire, a man who rules almost half of Thailand with all his legitimate business and nearly all of the country with the underground deals. For you to reach that level of success, there's no way you don't look at people and not see profit in them. I may sound conceited but I think Khun Korn sees something he can gain by keeping me close and I believe it's not just my skills as a bodyguard that he needs.
Then again, if I think this way, wouldn't it be counterproductive to work for him? No. It would be counterproductive to try to run away. After all, you're either an ally or the enemy. A nobody like me who has my loved ones to protect cannot run away. Even if I tried, I wouldn't be able to get far anyway. I know I have to be smart if I want to win or survive, at least.
So I need to be smart. Lately it's become especially hard since people's intentions are hard to read. Unlike before I got tangled into this mess, I now need to be more careful. For now, throwing my fists into this punching bag has got to do. I haven't officially moved back in the Theerapanyakul premises but I was allowed to use the training facilities. As of now, I'm using it alone.
"You seem energetic this morning." I stop hitting when I heard a voice talking to me.
He's one of the more mysterious ones to me. Now I wonder if on the night I was supposed to take my life, he was there not by just mere coincidence. For some reason I wonder if he was there on purpose. But then, if he were, why did he save me and almost lost his life on the process. What are your intentions?
"Khun Kinn, good morning" I smile at him in the most business-like manner I could.
He nods, his expression suddenly turns unreadable as he wraps his hands with a thin layer of bandage before putting on some boxing mitts.
