Johnny and Daniel started getting along, which surprised Maya a lot. They fought each other on the brand new sparring deck, just for educational purposes, and everyone was starting to ease up on Hawk. Including Maya. Maya felt awkward going back, she'd caused such a scene, but everyone seemed to act as if nothing had happened.

Of course, some of them apologized to her, saying they felt bad for what had happened to her. Demetri was one of them. Hawk was upset with himself for not noticing sooner, and Maya told him not to blame himself. So did Miguel.

Maya didn't want to have dinner with the LaRussos. She hadn't bonded with any of them, she was only civil with Daniel. Maya planned on hanging out with Robby, she just wished time would fly by sooner.

"Maya." She looked up, her mom motioning for her to put her phone away, so Maya did as she was told but not without a sigh.

"So, Maya, how's school been for you?" Amanda asked, Maya, felt her phone buzz. She knew it was Robby, and she desperately wanted to answer it.

"Good, straight A's." Maya flashed a smile, Carmen smiling at Amanda.

"Maya's always been good at keeping straight A's, she's never had a B in her life." Carmen bragged, Maya always had a weird fear of having bad grades. Like her self-value was only based on grades.

"Have you looked into colleges?" Maya nodded.

"Stanford, Haverford, Yale, they have great writing programs." Miguel nodded along with her.

"We're also thinking about Santa Monica College, right? Save some money, live at home, then see where we go from there." Maya and Miguel looked at each other, Maya hated how everything was always about money. She wished her family was as fortunate as Sam's.

"SMC's great too. It's right by the beach. Have you checked out their campus?" Daniel asked Miguel who sighed.

"No, actually, I-I-I haven't." Miguel reached for something, suddenly knocking over Daniel's wine glass on him. "Oh, oh! Mr. LaRusso, shit! Ah, I mean I'm sorry!" Maya had to hold down her laughs, Miguel sitting down in his chair in defeat.

"Good job, idiot." Maya snickered in Spanish, Carmen glared at Maya, as did Miguel.

"Maya," Carmen spoke firmly.

"Shut up, Maya." Maya shrugged, taking a bite from her food.

Just as they were about to leave, Daniel stopped Johnny.

"So still okay with me taking the Eagle Fangs tomorrow?" Maya quickly looked at Johnny. A whole day with Daniel LaRusso, hell no. Maya would skip every day of karate if she had to practice with Daniel.

"Yeah. I had some ideas on how to get your kids' offense up to snuff." Johnny smiled, pushing Daniel's shoulder jokingly.

"Mm-hm." Daniel hummed.

"Make sure defense doesn't turn you two into cream puffs." Johnny pointed to Maya and Miguel.

"Tomorrow is gonna be great. As long as sensei over here brings everyone back in one piece." Maya nodded slowly, in her mind, she was just begging to leave.

"Great," Maya muttered.

"No promises," Johnny muttered.

"You'd better promise." Daniel joked, the four leaving soon after.

Maya felt so nostalgic as she sat in the old chair that she used to sit in while watching Miguel practice. She was scrolling through her phone, she wasn't too interested in their practice.
