ADELOLA IBRAHIM
Things between Yethu and me have been great. He has been an amazing boyfriend; he takes care of me; he treats me right; he takes time to know and apply my love language accordingly and I must say; I am in love with him. Yes, our siblings are expecting twins together, but does that mean he and I cannot be together because of that? I mean, in what universe is that fair? I've just gotten out of my second lecture for the day and I am tired! I spent the night over at Yethu's place, told my dad I was studying with a friend for a test and he did not ask too many questions, thankfully. I think he thinks that I'm still grieving because I try to not spend too much time at home. Home is bittersweet, dad is always buried in work and being there without mom is strange and hence I try as best as I can to not be at home. I make my way to the cafeteria to meet up with my friend. She is an immortal, like me. We met at the last gathering. I don't like immortals because of their shity nature, but Brianna is nothing like the ones I have met. She actually has a heart, and that's why we get along so well.
"If it isn't the man stealer," Yethu's ex says, blocking my way with her friend.
"Aren't we a little old for bullying? Yethu left you, not me. Harass him," I say and push past her, but she grabs my arm. I turn back with a back slap. It's not intentional because I am not a violent person. She holds her cheek with a gasp. I am as shocked as she is.
"I am so sorry," I say, quickly rushing off. I don't know why or how I came to slap her. This girl is always doing this, she is always throwing shade at me, talking trash whenever she sees me and I always ignore her. I don't know what happened this time around and I don't like it.
"Hey, are you okay?" Ianna asks and I shake my head no. I am shaken and I don't know why that is. "Lola, you are shaking! Here, drink this," she says, handing me her drink and its flavored water. I never understood why people like it because personally I am not a fan. "Now breathe," she says, coaching me and helping me breathe in and out. "Now, tell me what happened?"
"I slapped Ntando's ex. I don't know why or how. It just happened." She smiles proudly. I shoot her a look, and she shrugs her shoulders. "Ianna, this is not a proud moment. I am not a violent person, and that reaction was definitely not me. I don't know what happened or how I slapped her. I feel terrible." I admit, and she chuckles.
"You are so cute. You are shaken because of your natural reaction? You are indeed a strange immortal, Lola. She deserved it, okay? She had it coming. Eventually you were going to stand up for yourself and I am glad you finally did. That girl has been comfortable for way too long. Who the hell is still xenophobic in this day and age? Stop stressing about her and let's have our lunch," she suggests. I can't help it. I am not proud of my actions, but what can I do now? I have apologised and I hope she accepts my apology. My phone rings just as we are sitting and eating, it's Yethu. Of course, she ran to him.
"Hey baby," I answer.
"Hey love, are you okay?" he asks me. Ntando is not one to beat around the bush, so I don't know why he is acting.
"I'm okay. Are you?" I ask him.
"I'm good. My lecture just got cancelled. Where are you? What are you doing right now?" He asks.
"I'm at the cafeteria with Ianna, Whats up?" I ask him.
"I'm on my way okay, don't move." He says and drops the call on me, leaving me confused.
"And that?" Ianna asks.
"It's Ntando, he's on his way." I say, and she rolls her eyes at me.
"I still don't understand why you settled for a mortal. They are weak and their sex is basic," she says and I chuckle and sip my drink. I am not about to give details about my sex life to a friend. Ntando arrives and kisses the side of my cheek, waving at Ianna.
