'Familiar strangers, they're all I see'

Conner's eyes shot wide as his grip around her wrist tightened.

Cielle took notice of the look on his face before she turned around slowly, only dread filled her body at the sight of Brooke and James nearing in.

"Brooke..why do you have that?", she muttered warily.

Since when did they have a gun lying around their house? And more rather, why was it aimed at Conner?

"Goodness Cielle you've got a lot to catch up on, have you no idea of what we spoke about earlier?" She spat at the girl, eyes unwavering from the man beside her.

Cielle took a second to recall the heated conversation they had in the living room and remembered the frustration that seemed to have seeped through Brooke's skin at the mention of a name.

Miles.

"Look I understand that you're in a tight spot and this is quite conveniently your best shot at pinning him down." She spoke carefully, not wanting to worry Conner any more than he already was.

"-But this isn't right. Hear him out. I'm sure-"

Cielle was cut off by the sound of Brooke loading the gun as she placed her finger over the trigger.

"Do not..pull that.." her demeanour completely changed as she held a tight gaze over the gun and Brooke.

"Or. what?" She sneered at the girl, clearly not having any of her sympathy for the boy behind her.

"Brooke- put the gun..down."

He could be an imposter for all she cared, either ways, to Brooke, they were running out of time, and he could've been a perfect ploy to corner them.

Cielle suddenly felt this alienating sensation running through her skin as she instinctively raised her hand towards the table beside her. She locked her gaze on the bricks stacked on it's back as they lifted themselves off the wood and split to pieces, their edges sharp as knife.

She looked back at Brooke, almost as if to make sure she saw that.

"I said- put. The gun. Down." Cielle warned, having little to no time to question her conscience over her ability to levitate the object.

Conner was taken aback by this newfound power the girl used in front of them. He was impressed to say the least. But he'd be lying to said he wasn't wary of whom to trust between the two, both seemingly standing within the defence of another.
