Chapter Six

A day, that's all it took. One day changed everything around their little group, colors seemed faded, gone, shattered away. Clouds took over their minds, hearts and souls, a big part of their life just disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Emma, Tom, Jenny, Shawn, Markus, and Lena all gathered once again, this time in black suits and dresses. Their faces screamed everything their tongues couldn't fathom saying. Their emotions varied between fear, sadness and disbelief. However, Lena's face joined all three at once.

"Lena." Jenny wrapped a hand around Lena. "I know it doesn't seem like it now but it will be okay," she whispered gently. Her words broke Lena even though they were supposed to do the opposite. She gathered the broken pieces of her heart and barely pulled herself together before nodding with a fake smile.

They walked inside the ceremony and everyone's eyes shifted to the door. Funny how people always care when it's too late.

Random hugs, condolences, some fake tears here and there. You people barely knew him, Lena thought to herself. Everyone took a seat as Andrew's family stood up and talked about him one by one. With each word they said about the "Unfortunate accident" Lena scoffed every time someone called it an accident, or an incident... Funny how everyone can't call it what it is, it's murder for god's sake. The voids in their hearts grew wider, it fed off the pain that filled the room.

The seven six of them knew that this was no accident, incident or some unfortunate event, it was the consequences of their stupid actions. Jenny looked at Andrew's picture. The world around her slowly went darker. The more she focused on his picture the more it became lifelike. Blood ran through his eyes on the portrait. Jenny tried to grab Shawn's hand, she tried to get his attention, she felt her hand grasp at nothing but air.

She looked around but the whole place was empty, everyone was gone, she was alone strapped to her chair forced to sit and look at the painting as blood poured through the golden frame. She tried to scream but nothing came out. She panicked, unable to move, unable to speak, unable to breathe.

Andrew's casket swung open as his corpse crawled its way out of the casket. She shut her eyes closed, she clung on to the hope that this was nothing but a horrible nightmare.

A loud thud made her flinch, she knew the corpse was out of the casket. It crawled its way towards Jenny, she heard it breathe, so loud, so unsettling. Every inch of her body froze in pure fear.

"Jen?" Shawn's voice pierced through the nightmare she was in. She opened her eyes and everything was back to normal, everyone was seated back in place.

"You okay?" He wiped a tear off her cheek. "I'll kill that demon." She held Shawn's hand. They listened to Andrew's mother talk about her son. Breaking their hearts with every word she spoke.

After an intense day, they went home in an attempt to rest after all they've been through. Hours later, a single text popped up on all their phones

Markus: Meet me at our hangout spot in an hour.

Emma sat on her bed as she read that texted Back there again? really? She thought to herself.

Emma's phone vibrated once more, this time it was Shawn saying he'll pick her up at five so they can see what Markus wanted.

Emma looked at her watch to see it was already 4:30P.m. She lifted her body up with whatever power she had in her and changed into some jeans and a plain black hoodie.

"Dad." Emma went down the stairs looking for her father. After a few seconds of getting no reply. She walked towards her dad's office downstairs. She passed by the kitchen only to see her mom there with her little brother, Elliot.

He was sitting on a small chair in front of the counter. Elliot was about a year old; he was the highlight of Emma's day. Somehow that one year old managed to magically make everything feel a little better.

"Hey Elli," she said in a playful voice. He laughed and swung his hands in the air at the sight of her

"MA!" he said. "No, EMMA." She tickled him, as he laughed louder and louder. "Honey he won't say your name now, too hard for him," Her mom said.

"Ugh, can't wait to hear him say it." Emma let out a sigh.

"How are you feeling?" Her mother couldn't help but ask, she knew how much Andrew meant to all of them.

"Better." She nodded. She was not better, none of them was, however, they were preoccupied with one small task, survival.

"You're going somewhere, sweetie?" Her mom asked. "Yeah, I'm gonna meet my friends," She answered.

"Okay, just please stay safe, okay?" Her mom said, unable to mask her fear for her daughter's life.

"I will, don't worry." She hugged her mom, gave her brother a kiss on the cheek before walking to her dad's office on the other side of the living room.

She knocked on her father's office before she opened the door, the office was brand new so it was a little messy.

"Wow." Emma couldn't help but smile when she saw her father's new desk.

"Look at that." She walked in and touched the dark wooden desk.

"Cool, isn't it?" Her father said. "Check this out." her father opened his drawer and pulled out a wooden name tag, with his name carved on a goldencolored ticket.

"You're going all out." she laughed. "Yes, I am," he said proudly as he put it on his desk.
"Well, attorney Johnathon Brooks," Emma said mockingly. "What's in that small box?" she pointed at the box resting on his desk.

"How about I tell you after you grab me a coke from the fridge," he said calmly.
"Ugh, fine." she closed the door behind her.

"Back already?" emma's mother asked as her daughter walked into the kitchen. "No." Emma scoffed.

"Just grabbing something for dad." she opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of coke before leaving the kitchen again. on her way back something on the floor next to her dad's office shined as a single ray of light hit it.
Emma approached whatever that thing was, she grabbed it off the floor only to see it was a bullet.

We don't even own a gun Emma thought to herself before overhearing her dad in his office.

"Six,"
"Five,"
"Four,"
"Three." She approached the door. "Two." She put her hand on the handle.
"One." Her heart dropped to her feet.
