C H A P T E R 27

My dad got out of the cell and I took that as my cue to follow him. We walked up the long stairs of the basement in silence. He hasn't said anything ever since I walked in. And if I know my dad like I claim I do,  it means he's up to something. He's plotting something, something I have a feeling I won't like.

We got out of the basement and went straight to his office. He opened the door and left it open, I got in and closed the door as he sat down on his chair. I sat on the chair opposite to his on the large office table.

"How did you find out about him ?" He immediately said. Okay so we're in boss mode.

"I planted a listening device in Kenny's watch incase they talk about the flash drive. I was listening to it when I heard them mention it." I told him.

"Progress in finding the flash drive ?"

"Uhh.. no they haven't talked about it." I answered him.
I could be all comfortable with my dad and all but when he was like this, he didn't joke around. He was in work mode and I was talking to my boss, not my dad.

"We have to eliminate Brown." My dad said and I stared at him wide eyed as I felt my heart skip a beat.

"W-what ?" I asked my dad anxiously.

"This Kenneth is becoming a big problem for us. We have to kill him before he gets to us, we can't risk any chances. You know he can't be undermined."

I stared at my dad blankly. No words could be formed in my mouth. Kenny can't die. I know me and him are going to be separated in two weeks, but he can't be killed. I couldn't live with myself knowing that we're the reason for the death of the man I love.

"After we find the flash drive we'll kill him." My dad said simply. "He's the one who knows where the flash drive is so we need to find the flash drive first. Once we do that we'll wipe him off the face of earth. He's a threat to our family, he's a threat to our gang. You know what happens to threats."

I felt as if my whole world came to a stop. Kenny is in danger. Once my dad puts a death tag on someone, he makes sure to complete it and nothing will stand in his way. I need to do something, I can't let Kenny get killed.

I nodded and stood up without saying anything. I was scared of what I'd say if I opened my mouth. I might even beg my dad to spare the life of the man I love.

I got out of his office and headed straight to my room. I locked it and took off my clothes as I went to the bathroom. I ran myself a shower and got inside, letting the water wash away the blood as my thoughts went to Kenny.

My dad said he'll kill Kenny after we find the flash drive. Key word: after. If I don't find the flash drive, Kenny's life would be spared. But not for long because I know dad will stop at nothing to get it. He'll find a way to get it, one way or another.

This is the same gadget that could make us hundred times bigger than we are. Every gang that know about it is after it. It has each and every information about the operations of the criminal world. The flash drive could get us in contact with Mafia's around the world. We're just a small gang compared to the Mafia world, but if we get access to work with them, we could become one of them. Which means more money, more members, more power. We become more feared. But all of this at the expense of Kenny's life ? I don't even need to think about, this isn't worth loosing Kenny, especially not to death.

I know getting the flash drive will benefit my family greatly, but this isn't worth it. Kenny is more important to me than some power hunger. He's more important to me that anything in this world.

I have to make sure my dad doesn't find the flash drive, no matter what.

"I'm going to get your things at your old apartment, anything specific I should bring ?" Kenny said as he got down the stairs.
