Y/N’s POV:

We’re currently at a French restaurant, eating.

I can’t even focus on my food. I’m too busy being self conscious about eating as I look at Lafayette.

The man’s too fancy, he eats like a dang royalty…

He instantly stops chewing when he realized I was watching.

I looked away.

“Is there something wrong?” He asked.

“Oh! No! It’s nothing important.” I smiled reticently.

“Come on… Tell me.” He said, starting to get a bit anxious.

“Well, it’s just.. the way you eat is a little-”

“The way I eat? Oh my, am I being weird again? Je suis désolé, ma chérie..  What do I need to do in order not to embarrass you?”

Oh no… Now I feel guilty.

“No! That’s not what this is about at all! You’re not embarrassing me! It’s me who is embarrassed…”

“You’re…. embarrassed to be with me?” He asked in a melancholic voice.

Gosh, I think I’m gonna die looking at him right now. HE’S LIKE A SAD LITTLE PUPPY!

“Oh goodness, I would never be embarrassed to be with you! All I’m trying to say is you’re too good to be seen with someone like me!”
I unintentionally blurted out.

Dang it… Why do I keep looking so stupid in front of him?

“What do you mean?” He asked quietly.

“The way you eat makes me look like I’m a stray dog accompanied by a prince.” I said, not caring how much of an idiot I seem to be right now.

He looked at me for a few seconds, then bursts out laughing.

Yup… He’s really making me feel like an imbecile.

“Y-you… what..” He tried speaking in between his laughter.

I buried my red face behind my palms.
This is too embarrassing.

“So, you basically just think I’m too fancy?” He said, still laughing.

“Okay, shut up… You’re having too much fun.” I glared at him.

“Ma chérie, no need to get embarrassed. If you want, I can teach you formal dinner etiquettes?” He offered, grinning.

I slowly looked at him, “No.. you’ll just waste your time.”

“Non! I will do it just for you!”

“Just for me?” I repeated, raising my eyebrows.

He nodded.

I thought for a moment.

Hmmm, I’ve got nothing to lose if I try. Maybe I can use what he’ll teach me to my future dinner meetings.

“Fine.” I agreed.

He beamed at me excitedly. And sure enough he taught me stuff.

And through the process, I keep embarrassing myself. Lafayette chuckles every time I mess up. But he kept being patient with me.

Oh how not to fall for someone 300 years older than you…

…..

It’s been three weeks since Lafayette started living with me.
