Lurking In The Shadows

Chapter 6

When I pushed open the door, I saw kids filled the hallway. Some were talking, some were on their phones, some were making out and some were running like crazy people. I have been to school in the city, but it wasn't anything like this. I walked looking for the administrative office.

When I finally found it, I knocked and waited for an answer. I heard a high "Come in" before I pushed open the door. At the table sat a woman probably in her late thirties with thick glasses typing away on her computer. I stood by the desk and cleared my throat to make her aware of my presence. She looked up at me with friendly smile. " Hi, welcome to Silvercreek High, I am Miss Atkinson, your Dean of Academics. You must be Rebecca." I nodded at her with a smile. "That's me" I told her. She let out a soft laugh.

"Here is your schedule, it will tell you what classes you have. And here is the school map so you know where you're going". She gave me the two documents and I examined them carefully. I told her thanks and exit the office.

I still have 10 minutes before class started, so I decided who walk around and discover my new hellhole. I was so focused on reading the map that I didn't see the person in-front of me. The collision was so hard that I fell hard on my but. That impact is so hard I don't think I'll be able to walk for a week.

" I am soo sorry, here let me help you". I looked up to see some beautiful hazel eyes staring at me. Calling this person an angel would be an understatement. Tan skin, slick black hair, muscular muscles. You could even call him a Greek god.

"Are you done admiring me?" I heard him laugh. I was snapped out of my daze and then I realized that he held his hand out for me. I took them and he help me up. His hand was so soft, you would probably mistake it for baby skin.

"Thanks I guess I need to start looking where I'm going" I laughed. "Yeah we both should". He smiled and I couldn't help but smile back. " Hi I'm Jake. I'm a senior". "And I'm Rebecca, I'm also a senior and I'm new" I laughed awkwardly.

"Yeah I kinda noticed that, since you have your face down in the school map" he laughed while pointing any the map. "And I also I would have remembered a beautiful face like yours" he added. I cringed at that part. I heard that a lot from the boys in the city.

"Too soon?" He asked laughing once again. "Yeah. Try harder next time chico". I started laughing too. Just then we hear the bell ring. Oh crap I'm gonna be late for class on my first day. It was like Jake noticed and he said "Hey don't worry about it that's just the bell that tells you it's almost time for class. The second bell means you're late".

"Ohhhh... well I have Music now, but I don't know where that is" I said while studying my schedule. "Me too let me see that". Jake took the schedule from me and observed it. "Well Rebecca, looks like we have almost every class together. The only class that we don't have together is Calculus". He smiled at me once again and this time I feel like I'm about to melt.

"Well then let's go before we are late". We started walking to our class. Upon entering, all eye were on me. I guess it was because I'm fresh meat. I also noticed that the teacher isn't here as yet. Jake pulled me out of my little daze and pulled me to the seat beside him. Once again all eyes were on me. The guys are looking at me with awe, while the girls look at me with envy and hatred.

"Aumm Jake, why are the girls looking at me like they wanna kill me because I stole one of their expensive Chanel bags?" He looked at me and started laughing. When he realized the blank look on my face he cleared his throat. " I guess it's because I'm known as one of the popular kids" he said throwing up air quotes. I just shake my head. I guess that trade is every where.

A few minutes later we hear the second bell ring , and just then the teacher walked in. He introduced himself as Mr. Smith. He noticed me and asked me to introduce myself. I did as asked by just telling everyone my name and sat back down. Class went on.

Okay I love music and all but the class was soo boring. I was so happy when I heard it was over. I had calculus now and Jake took me to the class and he headed off to basketball practice. He told me he was the captain of the team. He asked me if we could meet up at lunch. Since I don't know anybody else I agreed.

It's good to make new friends I guess.
