Chapter 8

I was sitting with my ear-pods in the library when I felt someone touching my shoulder. I looked around and I saw Jake. I pulled out my EarPods and turned to face him. "Sup?" I asked. "I just wanted to apologize for what happened back at the cafeteria". I looked at him.

How did he even know that I was here. "How did you even know I was here?". "Just a lucky guess" he shrugged. I nodded at him. Just then my phone started ringing. It was my mom. I answered, and she told me that she was outside waiting for me.

I turned to Jake, "Hey that was my mom so I'm gonna go". I slowly got up and picked up my backpack. Jake took a hold of my hand and I turned around to face him. With this action I did not realize that Jake stood up and our faces were inches away from each other.

We were so close I had to back up a little bit. Jake cleared his throat before asking "Do you think I can have your number?" I smiled. "Okay but no BS or else your getting blocked". We both burst out laughing before exchanging numbers.

With that I left the library and headed to the front where my mom was waiting for me in the car. I know she is gonna speak to me about the whole Jordan issue that happened earlier this morning, but I could care less. I opened the door, sat opposite to my mom and put on my seatbelt.

"How was your first day of school hija? Was it fun? Did you meet any boys?" Oh my gosh leave it up to my mom to ask these questions. "School was cool, not really fun and I did meet a boy". I started blushing when I remembered our little moment in the library. I never had a boyfriend before so this is a shocker for me.

My mom started screaming and clapping when she heard I met a boy. She was soo loud the kids who were outside was looking. "Mom can we go now, you're creating a scene!" I tried to hide my face but I guess it was too late. My mom calmed down and started driving out of the school gates driving in the direction of our home.

"Jordan told me what happened this morning. Why can't y'all just get along for peace sake. You guys have been down each other's throat for I don't even know how long now". Here we go, I know it was coming eventually.

"He's trying to be this authority figure and trying to show dominance. But he need to be reminded that he's not my dad and he never will". "I know honey but you still need to be respectful to him. He is the one that got you into this school, he is also the one who trying to get you a job at the company he works with".

"What! I don't need him to do anything for me. I already applied to work for the diner in town. Living with that man is enough. Working with him will drive me nuts. No mama, no way". At this point I was so mad. How dare he. He is already giving me a hard time at home and now he wants me to work with him.
That place will be flipped upside down if so be the case.

The car ride became silent. Eventually we pulled up in our driveway. When I went in the house, I realized that Jordan isn't here. He probably went back to work. I was just about to tell him a piece of my mind. "Honey I'm going to heading back to work and I won't be back until 5. There is food on the stove if you're hungry". My mom told me as she enters the house. "Okay mom bye" I waved to her as she headed back to the car. I heard the car come to life before hearing her drive out the yard. I just headed upstairs to my room and freshen up.

After spending 15 minutes in the bathroom I went to my room to get dressed. Just then I heard something hitting my window. It was kinda windy so I blew it off thinking it was the tree right by my window. However, I heard it again, this time it sounded like something heavy. I quickly put on my blouse and went over there.

By the time I opened the window I felt something hit me on the forehead. "Ouch! What the hell". "Sorry". I heard. That voice sounded so familiar. Confirming my suspicions I looked out the window and see Scarlet and she gave me an apologetic smile. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" She asked.

"Sure the door is open I'll be down in a sec." She nodded and I see her walk away to the front of the house. I heard the door open and shutting indicating she was inside. I went downstairs to see her in the kitchen. She faced me and said "I need to talk to you about Jordan".
