"Mikasa, get down here. We're leaving soon, and I will not hesitate to leave you here."
Mai and Klaus waited for the seven-year-old to come down the stairs. Today is Mikasa's birthday, and ever since she was 6, her parents have been planning on going to see the meteor shower. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and she cannot miss this.
"Mikasa, can you stop kicking Daddy's seat? He cannot concentrate on the road." Mai said, turning to face Mikasa. She cooed at her when Mikasa showed a toothy grin.
"I just can't wait to go, Mama."
Mikasa can see a frown form on her face before putting on a fake smile. "Well, sweetheart, unfortunately we weren't able to afford those meteor shower tickets. But we can go somewhere else that is fun, and you'll learn new things."
The seven-year-old pouted but nodded. After 10 minutes, they pulled up to a building that looked abandoned, but there were so many cars. Mai took Mikasa out of the car seat and held her hand.
"This is called a church. This is where God will protect us as a family and will never judge us as humans." Klaus said to Mikasa. She looked up curiously at the building. Is this where we have fun?
Mikasa didn't realize her family had already walked into the building, standing in front of a lady. She had a warm smile and crouched down to speak to Mikasa.
"Hi, I'm Ms. Hana, the Sunday School director, and you must be little Mikasa. I'm a good friend of your parents." Hana said while bringing her hand out. Mikasa stood behind her dad's leg; look at her hand.
Mai laughed a little. "She's a shy kid, but she's honestly adorable once you get to know her."
Mai bent down to speak to Mikasa. "You'll be hanging out with Ms. Hana till the session is over. Be a good girl, and we'll celebrate when we get home, okay?"
Mikasa just nodded, saving her goodbyes for her parents before grabbing Ms. Hana's hand. The room was small, with little drawings of animals on the wall. There weren't many kids in the room, but it was loud.
"What would you like to do, Mikasa?" Ms. Hana said. The little girl stared before pointing at the paper and crayons. Ms. Hana walked her over, letting her sit wherever she wanted.
