The word "lantern rite" was a special one around Liyue Harbor. The sight of the city would entirely change. From a beautiful sight to an entire speechtaking— breathless one.
No words would be able to describe its beauty as on the holiday the lanterns would rise far above the ground.
The scenery would light up its most beautiful colors and celebrate peace brought upon them by those who fought brave for it. This was a time where people united and felt loved.
Fireworks would always come, but only when it was close to the end. The most beautiful things would always come at the end.
A old memory of her grandfather striked her— oh how they used to love these fireworks.
She sighed to herself running around, dodging different people whom she might would've run into otherwise. This would be a unessecary bother, that she tried to avoid as good as possible.
Yet sudden— she noticed a young adeptus with dark hair. He sat close around Liyue. Observing peacefully in silence the people. It was such a entertainment to see him secretly so interested in mankind. At least the funeral director thought so.
"Hi" she suddenly spoke up facing the antisocial adeptus. He had been known for conquering demons. But, oh he had been through the fair share of loss too. A heartbreaking arching feeling.
"Funeral director Hu Tao" he nodded. Shortly keeping eye contact tact with his amber eyes that met hers for a brief moment. Surprise or perhaps nervousness spread through him as he broke it off as soon as it started.
By that he acknowledged her presence. His way of starting the conversation was unusual, but she matched his tone gladly.
There was a certain feeling of fun in there trying to match a adeptis speech patterns.
At least that brought her on various other thoughts she was glad for.
"Adeptus Xiao, conqueror of demons." She nodded, looking at him with curiosity in her eyes. The wholw feeling had lead her here and put her in this situation. Perhaps she shouldn't have bothered him. sat there in the cold grass, yet he was so peaceful.
He kept silent, "what brings you here?" he asked curious. He didn't directly turned his gaze to her, but had a short glance directed towards her.
"Nothing important," she noted, "I was only bored and noticed your presence." a small smile curved on her lips. "Besides that lantern rite is a holiday that I feel bad about celebrating this year." she explained to him simply, without further details. She was in no mood to dump such thing on anyone.
The adeptus didn't dug into it further either. As trying to press on the issue was atypical for him.
"Oh" he replied.
Simple, but brief enough to put a smile on her face. "Did you know that the Hu Tao stands for Hu as in Who put me in this coffin.. and Tao for I gant geT OUt!" she joked, cracking a laugh at her own joke. She let her gaze wander out of curiosity. It met that of the adeptus.
The dark haired male looked at her empty. Her eyes went wide, realising this must've not been his humor. Perhaps to far— especially on this day. She scratched her neck nervously, "No.. not funny?" she chuckled.
The adeptus shook his head, "you're wrong, it is humorous in a way." he admitted scoffing. His tone was rather different from usual as he looked in the night sky.
Hu tao's features lit up just by a small bit. This was— unbelievable.
"Oh.. nobody thought that until now.." she chuckled, admitting indirectly how her humor was different from the normal one.
Her eyes draw onto the path that lead away. She decided to bid her goodbyes, tp wish him a great lantern rite and dissappear into the crowd. Which was easier than expected.
To separate for a longer time.
And dissappear for a while.
It had her in a strong hold, she tried to wrap her mind around it— what was this strange feeling.
She shook her head trying to pause attention. This sensation didn't stop, it was bothering and really annoying.
She couldn't let go of it.
This was so dumb of her, why couldn't she? That's what she at least kept thinking.
Her eyes kept wandering as her feet came to a stand. Soon it was met with a figure that looked like Y/n. It captured all of their features and looks. No doubt to in mind this seemed to be her.
The possibilities on the other hand that it eas true were another question for itself.
This must've been an illusion and it was irrational to fall for it..
But this was an irrational impulsive choice. One formed by strong emotions which she did not intend to keep inside for once. After all of this time it was taking her back, how could you still be here. Was it something or just her mind playing with her. There was no brain involved— only the heart.
She ran after the appearance that looked like you. This entity, was what her legs tried to follow as long as they could carry. Even if it was a deceiving intent, her lungs would stop until they'd burn to ashes.
The person ran, ran far and fast. Which took the female by surprise, so much she didn't know what to do.
"Wait—!" Hu Tao had exclaimed loudly. Reaching her hand out desperate.
It went nowhere, only into the nothing. The emptiness itself.
She was determined and breathing heavily— at cost of slowly arriving exhaustion. She did not care, she couldn't care less. What she really put care into was reaching this person.
Her legs began to feel sore. They gave up on her more second by second.
At last the ghost seemed to stop in its track. Inside of her everything was shinning. This was extremely overwhelming all at once. What was she supposed to feel?
"It's you, Hu Tao." it acknowledges.
"Hello, old friend." she said and you smiled.
