Hu Tao was speechless, not knowing what to say. Her mind stumbled around — feeling quiet and loud at once.

What were you doing here? How— this wasn't possible if you had no regrets. Unless.. you did.

'It must be it' she thought with a strong expression.

Then it striked the brunette, her mind stopped its fast rate. It started hanging at the word unfinished business.

"Y/n.." she whispered breathless. Still quite shocked as her red ruby eyes were wide. "What are you doing here?" she inquired. Meanwhile her tone grew unsure and conflicted. Her confusion was written all over her face. What was there much to expect.

She frowned, "you don't have regrets, do you..?" her voice trailed off at that idea. This thought bugged her, this didn't fit together at all. And she didn't want it to br true.

"I do." you stated stern. Your expression grew colder. The smile a short while ago disappeared faster than the brunette could process.

"But Y/n— it's.." she trailed off. Each second she appeared to grow more nervous.

She couldn't save you, look you in the eyes and tell how much she wished she didn't confess that day.

"My only regret is being never able to love you back, you deserved better than love that isn't requited" you smiled at her.

"But.. that's really not something that bothered me ever— I swear. You.. I.. I never intended to confessing if I knew it'd end like this." she mumbled, starring at her feet. There was embarrassment in her voice.

"No need to worry—" you insisted squeezing her shoulder with light touch as you looked at her. "I wanted to do a last thing." you smiled, Hu Tao raised a brow.

"At least I want to make you a last time happy— well would you perhaps go out on lantern rite with me?" the question fell silently into the room. Hu Tao didn't move, she stood there set in stone. There was— jo words to describe her happines.

You noticed the long break in the conversation. The whole feeling changing like a lever was switched off. You felt like there was a lack in clarification that you must've forgotten whicg put her in a uncomfortable way. "As a last goodbye." you added fast, sheepishly grinned. More sounding like a defensive explanation to her.

Hu Tao nodded, "that was due."

You both shared a laugh together. Smirking wide over both ears. You two started walking and after a while a conversation was born in between the commotion of many different kinds of people.

"I— don't do that out of my last regret though by the way." you felt the need to clarify it, now that you took her time of the day.

A possibility was that she had grown out of her feelings from around almost 1 and a half months ago and got over it. Which was why you felt that need— to clarify things for the last time to leave her with a warm and not confusing feeling.

However the brunette continued to give her the typical replies she'd given to others already.

"I get it, don't worry." she assured you with a gentle tone. You sighed, "good because I want to be here."

You two went over the market— went from paper theater, to a type of musical concert, watching people have fun and much more.

It felt like the old times again.

Somehow it slipped, "I love you Y/n." as it went off her tongue it felt weird.

Regret washed over her face as she realized. "I'm so—" but the rest was cut off as you had fallen in a deep space in your mind. There was no other voices, only your own and your thoughts.

Your eyes wide in shock. The experience being itself no problem, but tbe suddeness. With hesistation you stood silent. Your lips letting the words depart too now. "..I love you too, Hu Tao." you smiled.

They shared a evening full of color, joy and happiness, but when it came to an end, it felt empty and hurt.

You looked at her, giving her a last kiss on her forehead. Giving a last goodbye to her.

This was it.

In the fireworks her last "Goodbye" faded with a smile. This was a happy goodbye. A good one compared to the last. The nightsky was beautiful. The fireworks sat off and you disappeared slowly with a smile.

When Hu Tao looked up a last time with you the most genuine smile landed on her lips. In between all those different colors mixing she found peace. When she looked back your last particles had disappeared.

You had gone out with a smile, that was directed at her. No one else not the fireworks and no one else. Just her and maybe she'll find out one day that it was only the condition that held you back from accepting her feelings perhaps.

No single trace of your presence in the human realm anymore. This thought of acceptance that was finally brought to her, caused small tears to stream down her cheeks.

And so as she disappeared into the nothing of the night Hu tao felt happier than she ever did before, for a moment. Enough to keep her happiness fullfilled until it'd be her day to naturally let deaths history come to let her know, her time was over.
