It was a shady morning. A little dark a little light. The eight year old boy stood in the hall way as his mother walked away after scolding him for eating all the roasted chestnuts in the kitchen. She scolded and she told him never to do it again. But the little boy wearing the blue and white stripped shirt loved chestnuts and he didn't understand why he couldn't have it, when he loved it so much. He didn't understand that his mother loved him and she was worried he would have a stomach ache therefore she scolded him. No, he didn't understand that. He just knew one thing and that was, he loved chestnuts and his mother wasn't letting him have any.
......Life won't always go your way
And that won't ever change
But you'll find blessings in the clouds
And you'll find mercy in the rain
And you'll have heartache down the road
And tears shed from a broken soul
But joy will seek you out and give you hope
Like candles' lights in darkened rooms.......
He wanted to find answers. Why could he not do whatever he wanted? His head was looming with questions. Did his mother not love him? If she loved him why does she scold whenever he does something, anything? He was just eight years old and eight years aren't enough to understand the world. But who would explain it to that little boy?
He sloppily walked to his room and sat on his bed which had a big anchor printed on it. He looked outside and he could see far far away the beach. It was clear today. No children playing, no teenagers walking. It was lonely because the sky was dark and a storm was on its way. He went to his book shelf and took out his favorite book. It was called 'the little sailor'. The book was big and white with a big blue boat in the middle and a boy almost of his age stood at the deck of the boat in the middle of the sea. The boy in the cover was smiling wide, well it was a cartoon it had no worries. Little Jimmie here also wanted to be like that boy. He wanted to sail away. But life out there in the world was so much more than his caring mother's wrath and who would explain that to the little boy?
......And how you sacrifice and try to make things right
Is the whole world happy but you
But hungry children cry while thirsty siblings die
How did this life become so cruel
And then the questions come and rare are answers known
But this is still worth pushing through
Cause every smile shown
And Every laughing moment
Confirms that life is beautiful.......
So, Little Jimmie quickly took out his spongebob duffel bag and threw in a pair of shorts, sailor shirt, the big white book and a toothbrush because he was preparing for a long journey. He took his father's cap which was lying on the blue floor of his room and he put it over his head. It was a little big for him as it would fall over his eyes everytime he took a step. Somehow he managed to balance it and quickly tip-toed out of his room. He knew he had to get some snacks because he saw the little sailor boy in the book munching on a big box of captain crunch. So, he again tip toed to the kitchen where his mother was preparing dinner. He slowly entered the kitchen and she was busy chopping pepper to notice him. Jimmie quickly opened the last cabinet and found frooty loops. He took the cereal box and fled out, his mother still didnot have any idea that he was in the kitchen.
