For some, school was a place of great comfort, where they could meet their friends, escape the problems they were facing at home, and learn a vast amount of new things. For Reena this was not the case. During the time she spent at school she would count the time till she could leave, and during the time she spent outside of school, she would count the time till she had to go back.
Despite it all, Reena made her way through the old but beautiful halls of Crestriver Academy and arrived in front of her history class.
As per usual, she was late, but so was Mr Datura, her history teacher. So she found herself waiting with all the other students for him to arrive.
It was only when she looked around that she saw them. Rowan, Avana and Querdo. They were all already looking at her. Not even trying to hide their snarky and mocking smiles. Despite how badly they treated her, she couldn't help but envy them, especially Avana Candytuft. She had this thick, luscious and healthy auburn hair that was long enough to reach the bottom of her waist. Her eyes seemed to be as green as grass at the start of spring. Her nose was most likely handcrafted by the gods themselves it was so perfect, all her features simply all went together impossibly well.
Then there was Querdo Larch. From afar his hair seemed to be light brown, but the second he stepped out into the light, each strand looked like liquid gold, shining and glowing. His eyes matched those of a fox. Amber and bright, almost a little orange. They were incredibly intimidating yet so captivating.
Then there was Rowan Nightshade. Even Reena couldn't deny that he was deadly beautiful. He had this dark brown hair, almost black but not quite, which curled slightly at the ends, for some reason this emphasised his captivating eyes. They were an odd mix of grey and green, which made them impossible to look away from, yet impossible to retain eye contact with.
But as she stood there not shying away from any of their cold and judgemental gazes. Mr Datura finally arrived.
As everyone made their way into the classroom, she felt someone behind her.
"Try not to answer all of his questions today, I think we are all a little fed up of hearing your voice," Avana breathed.
"Maybe if you actually knew any of the answers I wouldn't have to," Reena answered turning around to face her. "It's not my fault you and your friends are too dim witted to understand even half of what Mr Datura talks about." She answered while looking Rowan dead in the eye.
Rowan smirked, "It's history what's there to understand? All you have to do is sit there and listen."
"My point entirely, even that is too complicated for you."
His gaze sharpened on her. "You actually believe that I'm that stupid? Had it ever occurred to you that I possibly know more than you?"
Reena paused, looked him up and down, and said "No." Before turning around and walking away towards her seat near the front of the class.
