It was Avana's time to shine. This would be the perfect moment to use the Heartseize. Rowan would be sleeping in room half buried in the ground, with Querdo, while she would be sleeping in a cottage opposite them.
She had already planned everything; she would do it tonight. She would sneak into his room in the middle of the night and pour a drop of it on each of his eyes, just as the merchant had instructed.

Once the camp site had fallen silent and the students and teachers had gone to sleep, Avana put on her shoes, pulled her cloak over her pyjamas, and exited her cottage. She looked around, carefully scanning her surroundings to make sure that there were no witnesses, when she realised that Reena was outside. She was sitting on a bench reading a book while a firefly buzzed near her, illuminating the pages she was reading.
Avana panicked a little. What if Reena saw her? What if she told everyone? What if everyone realised what she was doing? She pushed the thoughts away. No one would believe Reena anyway and how would she even know what Avana was doing, she would probably just assume that she was going for a stroll or something.
Avana made her way to were Rowan way staying. She knew that he had not locked the door, because he did not need to, he was the Prince of the Earthly Kingdom, no one would dare harm him, or at least no one in their right mind. So, without making any noise, she snuck inside and went straight for his room. He had shown it to her when they had first arrived, and she had memorised where everything was so that she would not stumble into anything.
Rowan was peacefully sleeping in his bed. Without even trying, he still managed to look so incredibly handsome while he lay there. Avana silently pulled the cork out of the vial and gently poured a single drop of the Heartseize on each of his eyes.
She only truly realised the gravity of what she had done, once she had done it. There was no going back now. Rowan would irrevocably fall madly in love with her. Now she just had to make sure that she would be the very first person Rowan saw when he woke up. She didn't want to wake him up now, just in case he would somehow realise what she had done, so she would wait till the morning.
