Reena's next class was Elixirs and Potions, her favourite class.

She loved the subject for many reasons, one of them being that she was the best at it. Perhaps saying that made her sound haughty, but it was undeniable. She loved winning and therefore succeeding at producing every potion and elixir, whilst everyone else struggled.

However her only current issue with the class, was that she had to share it with someone she had desperately been trying to avoid. Rowan Nightshade. Every time she accidentally glanced in his direction, he was already looking at her, and each time their eyes caught, for some odd reason, Reena would feel butterflies in her stomach.

They had not spoken since he had walked her home. She should have probably thanked him, but she had been too distraught. Her rounded ears were the thing she was most insecure about, she constantly tried to hide them with various hairstyles and made sure that they were never visible.

Rowan touching her ear, had made her feel vulnerable. Though he had seemed extremely apologetic afterwards. Reena was feeling a mix of so many different emotions. She hated him, every time they spoke he managed to find new a way to insult her, mock or embarrass her, yet he was all she could think about.

That day, they were attempting to make their most difficult potion yet: Non-Mendacium potion. Reena had heard of it, yet she had never attempted to make it before. It was a mild truth potion, which when ingested would have any faery revealing some of their secrets to anyone who would care to ask, but only for a brief period of time.

Reena often wondered if she would ever require any of the skills and knowledge she had acquired during her time at the Academy. Non-Mendacium definitely felt like a potion which might potentially be useful to know how to make.

Unlike the rest of her classmates, the Academy would most likely be the only education she would get, because she presumptively would not have any special power. According to Reena's aunt, her mother had been gifted with plant manipulation, but the chances of that passing on to Reena, or of Reena having any gift at all were slim to none. Therefore she would not require any education subsequent to the one she would receive at the Academy. Reena enjoyed learning so the thought almost made her sad, which may have sounded pathetic, but it only motivated to work as hard as she could and to imbibe as much knowledge and information as she could.
