Quick about kinda thing: You're in shadow company and you don't like Graves
------------

Never before have i despised someone as much as i despised the commander of shadow company. I'd been with them for a couple years now and he's made sure to make it as unenjoyable as possible. The most annoying thing about it is that he treats no one else like he treats me. He has a deep bond with shadow company, and im the exception. If im training he'll always be there - watching, judging. sometimes he'll join in as a sparring partner or as the fake enemy team, getting too rough. one time he even knocked me out with the butt of a gun. the others said that it looked like an accident and that he even told them it was an accident too, but all it did was fuel my anger.

There was a new mission that everyone's been gossiping about thats taken my mind off him, one that actually seemed exciting. It was completely off the radar, unrecorded. that's all they were gossiping about. not a single word about what it actually was was spoken, and they obviously didn't know. missions were so much better than being at base, a time where graves would have to be professional and not only concentrate on me. he was only ever there in voice - which was also a great thing.

this mission sounded mysterious, and that's what i like about it. what was strange about it was that you had to sign up to go - usually we'd just get sent. i guess it really must be risky business which is even better. as soon as i tracked down the sign up sheet which already held about 15 squiggled names, i wrote my name as clearly as i've ever written anything.

i few days later i got a letter to go to a briefing of what we were doing and i was immediately there. the details weren't too clear, but there were basic points. It was a convoy in Al-Mazrah and we just had to protect the cargo as we moved it. surprisingly, they left no time for preparation. we were leaving tonight, and it was currently mid afternoon, which meant i needed to get the right uniform on and my equipment ready - this was halted due to the one and only Phillip Graves.

"Do not go on the mission," he blocked the doorway. why did i have to be the last one out?
"why not? are you sending us to our deaths or something? actually i don't think you'd save me from that. is it a surprise party? an escape from you?" i tried to barge past him, but he stood strong
"I'm serious. Do not go." his face was stern but honestly even more annoying.
"I'll do what i want," i ducked under an arm, speed walking away. what has gotten into him? why wouldn't he want me to go? i brushed it off. why should i care about what he wants?

I cleaned my night vision lenses, inked over scratches on my helmet and scrubbed out stains in my uniform. Not like the enemy would compliment my efforts, but for some reason it always has to be perfect. I grabbed a random fruit to eat on the way to the place where everyone was waiting.

I arrived early, but most people had come at the same time. i went up to the first person i recognised - someone i eat lunch with whose name i don't even know.
"You're coming too?" i brought down my balaclava to smile at him, knowing a lot of us can look the same. he brought his down to smile back.
"Yup, gotta do all i can. Graves was asking around for you earlier by the way," he pulled the mask back up. Hopefully that means he's not going to be checking again.
"Did he say what he wanted? i swear he's always getting on my nerves," i groaned, pulling my mask back up.
"Nope, was just asking if anyone knew if you were coming. No one actually knew so he didn't get an answer," he chuckled.

We talked about random things as we waited for guidance. More and more people arrived and soon it became a massive crowd, way more people than i thought had signed up. Some people started handing out radios and guns, probably signifying the wait was nearly over. The large plane rolled across the runway and soon enough we were being yelled at to drive the trucks in. We were told there would be trucks where we landed, but not enough so we have to bring some of our own. eventually all the set up that we could do was done, the only thing now was a few people securing the trucks so they didn't go flying everywhere. everyone was just waiting by the planes ramp.
