Did he say....agent of Zeus?
Suddenly, everything made sense. It's more than likely that Danny was looking for Arny. So that means-
"The bad weather....that was you?"
"Oh, yeah! That was me! Sorry about that, it happens when I enter new mortal territory. It's my body adjusting to the environment."
I sighed heavily. I understood what I had gotten myself into initially when I summoned Danny....but this? This was something different. At a first glance, Arny doesn't seem to be a terrible person. Either way, this guy was still a stranger who technically broke into my house so I still have to be cautious.
"Yo, Pete, can you bring Arny to the dining room? I'll be there in a few minutes." I said.
Like a good sport, he took the god-like being to the dining room. Now that I was alone, I had a moment to gather myself. I know that Danny will be pissed, there's nothing I can do about that. I know he'll thrust his anger onto Arny, so somehow I need to find a way to prevent the two from possibly killing each other. That couldn't be hard, right? I was taught conflict resolution skills in school, I can finally put the information to good use.
After I calmed down, I made my way to the dining room. I was met with Pete and Arny laughing and chatting over a bowl of cookies. My best friend was always the extroverted one, so I wasn't shocked that he already made a new friend. I took a seat beside Arny and grabbed a cookie. He placed his hand on top of mine, my eyes shot up to look at him. I could hear Pete snickering like a grade school student.
"Don't worry about the fire boy, Kore. I'll deal with him, alright?" Arny said, in an assumed reassuring tone.
I sighed, completely speechless. He still had his hand on mine, so I gently pushed it off. He understood the message so he made his hands busy by taking up another cookie.
"Y'know, it's been a few hours since Danny left. You think he's okay, Y/n?" Pete asked. "Shouldn't you call or somethin'?"
Right, I forgot I bought a phone for Danny. I should call him, though.
"I mean I would- if he ever fucking answered." I replied, then chuckled.
"Ah, I don't think you two should be so hasty. He's coming in three, two...." Arny's voice trailed off.
Before the word 'one' could even be heard, the door burst open and a horrifying growl echoed throughout the house. Pete shot a worrying glance at me and I simply nodded in response. Arny, on the other hand, was completely chill, which I couldn't wrap my head around.
We left Arny and raced to the foyer. We met a very enraged Danny. He glared at the both of us, as if he demanded an explanation.
"Danny, darling, we can explain-" I began.
"Don't bother." The demon was quick to interrupt me. "Where is he?"
"Uh, in the dining room. There's cookies on the table if you want any." Pete responded to the question.
Danny grunted and stormed off. It didn't take a genius to figure out that we needed to be there to defuse a possible fight. But, both boys stepped out of the dining room. They glanced at each other then at us. Danny took my hand and pulled me close. I squealed but I was quickly silence after accidentally making eye contact with Arny.
"Dude, the cookies were absolutely amazing!" Danny said, smiling. His smile was so lovely to see, I loved seeing him happy.
"Aw, thanks! Baked 'em myself!" Pete beamed.
"The last time you baked something, you almost burnt down the whole fucking building. Am I wrong?" I snickered.
"That was college, shut up!" He laughed. "It was an accident, I was....what you would call 'inexperienced'."
"Suuuuuuure," I drawled.
We burst out into laughter. I felt Danny's body suddenly stiffen. He gently purred to put my worry at ease. The god-like beings stared at each other, I wished I knew what they were thinking. But I felt tension, obviously. The devious look on Arny's face, the unquenchable anger in Danny's soul- I could see it all.
I was in love with the man of my dreams, and he has competition.
