"Lan Zhan."
Wei Wuxian grabbed Lan Wangji's wrist and turned him around forcefully. There were not glint of playfulness in his eyes.
"Come to Yunmeng with me."
'Wei Ying, come back to Gusu with me.'
Lan Wangji froze upon hearing those words. His eyes burned and tears began to pile up as he remembered how he would always ask Wei Wuxian to come back to Gusu.
To hide him.
To protect him.
"There's a lot of things to do in Yunmeng. We can go collect lotus pods, swim in the lake, eat spicy foods, and flirt with beautiful ladies. We can do all that so please come and stay in Yunmeng."
Wei Wuxian's voice trembled. "There are no three thousand rules there Lan Zhan. We can do whatever you want!"
Now Lan Wangji knows why Wei Wuxian won't listen to him.
In those purple set of orbs, tear came dropping down his cheek. Lan Wangji raised a hand up to wipe the lonely tear that escaped from his eye.
"I can't."

"I can't stop them anymore Wangji. They are threatened by you. They are threatened by what you possess."
Lan Xichen tried to convince his brother in stepping down and just listen to what the people say. However, Lan Wangji was not persuaded.
"Uncle is livid. In no time, the elders will come here themselves to capture you and keep you isolated."
Lan Wangji stared at his brother, expressionlessly. Despite his cold demeanor, Lan Xichen was able to read him very well.
The latter responded, "Then I will see to it that they will return in failure."

Lan Wangji held anonimosity in his dark colored robes, sneaking inside Jinlintai for another mission.
He recalls the past where he saw Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning got outnumbered by Jin Cultivators, led by Jin Zixun.
Aside from Wei Wuxian's Chenqing, there was another flute playing in the background.
After a thorough investigation, he found out that Jin Guangyao is the one playing it. Jin Zixun, who became a pawn to his malicious intentions, is also quite dangerous to let him go.
Jin Guangshan is not pardoned. As long as he is alive, he will hunt down the remaining Wens and make them suffer once again.
And thus, he managed to murder them all in secrecy.
But not for long.

Thankfully, before the murder of the three Jins, he managed to move the Wens to a safer and much more place than the burial mounds.
A place where no one can find them.
Lan Wangji ran deeper into the burial mounds, parry all the swords that come to his way. His white pristine robes were now covered in dirt and blood from all the fighting.
"Get him!"
Lan Wangji did not dare to look back as he kept on running away from his pursuers.
The Yin Iron, his sword that he casually picked up from a tortoise, and even his Guqin were now destroyed.
Lan Wangji himself did so.
All that's left of him is Bichen and his Lan Clan's forehead ribbon.
He stopped at a very familiar location and faced the crowd who immediately surrounded him with swords aimed at his direction.
"I surrender."
