Liz's pov

I wrapped my arms around Calum tightly as he carried me across the hot sand. He kept complaining about how hot the sand was and I just laughed.

"Thanks for being my best friend. Having a lot of guy friends can get boring, it's nice to have friends that are girls." Calum spoke seriously.

"Anytime kiddo." I said. "We haven't exchanged numbers yet, we should really do that."

"We should. Later, right now, I'm going to throw you into the water." He said.

"Wait, what?" I asked. Then I hit the water.

I made my way to the top and jumped on Calum making him fall down, he got up and shook his head getting water on me.

"Stop!" I giggled. He just came closer and shook his head.

I rolled my eyes and got out of the water. Luke came up to me with a boring look.

"Michael seems to be acting weird, he's hiding something, do you know anything?" He asked.

Michael must be hiding my secret about me having cancer, I can't tell Luke, not now. I'm having fun.

"Nope," I shook my head. "I don't know a thing. He won't talk to me."

He nodded. "Well, what's the deal with you and Calum?"

"We're just friends. Best friends." I smiled.

"Besties for life!" Calum butted in. I rolled my eyes.

Luke nodded his head slowly looking from me to Calum. I sighed and looked around and saw Michael in the car. He was messing around with his shoes, looking really bummed out.

I walked over and sat next to him. I stayed quiet before he spoke up.

"What are you doing?" Michael asked.

"Can't a girl spend time with one of her friends?" I asked.

"We're not friends." He sighed.

Ouch.

That didn't hurt at all. Note my sarcasm.

"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice cracking.

"We both know we're not friends." He said looking at the water. "We're more. You can't deny that you like me. Face it, we love each other. So, why haven't we started dating yet? Do you like Calum?"

"Calum? Ha! He's basically my brother." I laughed.
