Chapter 14 - Meeting Tom Riddle

So we decided to tell Professor McGonagall so we ran out to the staff room not wanting to be in a deserted corridor before going right into an empty staffroom since classes would still be going on right now but then the bell went off and we heard McGonagall's voice being amplified through the castle. "All students to return to their House dormitories at once, all teachers return to the staffroom immediately please." Then they started trying to figure out what to do next so I grabbed both of them before pulling them into a closet that held the teachers cloaks just as the teachers showed up making me quiet sigh, "It has happened, a student had been taken by the monster, right into the Chamber itself." I froze wondering who could have been taken into the Chamber before McGonagall continued, "The Heir of Slytherin left another message right underneath the first one, 'her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever.'" you could hear the teachers reaction to that before one asked who had been taken, "Ginny Weasley." I clamped a hand over Ron's mouth knowing he was about to go off but just as McGonagall was about to send us all home Lockhart showed up saying he dozed off but Snape seemed to have a good idea about something since he spoke up next. "Just the man, the very man a girl has been snatched by the monster, Lockhart. Taken into the Chamber of Secrets itself your moment has come at last." I almost laughed as every teacher undermined him saying that he was bragging about knowing where the Chamber was along with knowing what was inside but it seemed Lockhart kept trying to say he didn't say all that before McGonagall said they'd leave it all to him. Then Lockhart said that he would be going to prepare for the rescue but I knew he wasn't before they all left one by one to make sure all students were in there beds then we headed back to the dorm being careful of the teacher's who had just left but I could tell that the Weasley family wasn't in a good mood now and it upset me. Percy had been allowed to leave to send an owl to his parents before shutting himself up in his dorm room I must have been really upset since both Sena and Kuro came down before cuddling with me as a few tears slipped from my eyes hoping Ginny was alright then around sunset the twins headed up to bed not wanting to stay there anymore. I was racking my mind since why would the serpent grab a pureblood when it was supposed to target only Muggleborns but I was brought out of my inner struggle by Harry shacking my shoulder, no one stopped us as we left the common room since everyone was upset for the Weasley family. We walked all the way to Lockharts room but were shocked to see him packing all his things after we had kinda given him no other choice, however when he said he was going to just leave Ginny down there that really ticked me off but then he confessed that all his books were fake after Harry yelled at him.

Then Lockhart told them that he had obliterated all real witches and wizards who had actually done those adventures in his books and that he just stole them but when he tried to erase our memories I used my anger to pull the wand to me and I could tell that Lockhart was regretting the Duel Club he had set up this year. Lockhart just complained about not knowing where the Chamber even was but he was devastated when we told him that we did as we marched him out of the room and to Moaning Myrtles bathroom we sent Lockhart in first as a safety measure then Harry asked how Myrtle had died which she did tell us that she saw big yellow eyes by the sink. Then Harry saw a servant on the faucet but then Ron said we should say something in Parseltongue, which we did but our first attempt was wrong but when we tried again the faucet began to glow before spinning, then it began to move before it sank right out of sight exposing the pipes behind it. We all agreed to head down before remembering about Lockhart before Ron practically pushed him down the tunnel when he tried to leave, then Harry went down with me following and Ron bringing up the rear and I noticed that it was a long way down to the bottom. "Lumos!" Harry had yelling out letting light fill the Chamber as we went further inside the place before Ron saw something ahead of us but whatever it was wasn't moving then Harry went ahead to look with me right behind him only to see that it was a snake skin and it was long. Then Lockhart fell to his knees which had me rolling my eyes as Ron told him to get up only for Lockhart to grab Ron's wand making me smirk as he tried Obliviate our memories only for it to backfire, Harry and I moved backwards to avoid being crushed by the falling rocks. "Ron are you ok? Ron!" Harry yelled while I stood up with his help, "I'm here, I'm okay - the gits not though - he got blasted by the wand -." That had me sighing as Harry told Ron to stay there that we'd go ahead but if we're not back in an hour to go for help, while Ron said he'd try to get the rocks moved so that we could get through coming back before we took off deeper into the caves only to come to a giant wall with stone snakes. So we both used what we thought was the right word for open which had the serpents splitting letting the door slid open, the entire chamber screamed snakes as we walked in we kept walking forward being very careful since the Basilisk could be anywhere but when we drew level with the lat pair of pillars a huge statue as high as the Chamber came into view. I ignored everything else when I saw Ginny laying on the ground, then I noticed that Harry had as well since he called out to her before we ran over to her kneeling down next to her worried as Harry practically threw his wand to the ground trying to check on Ginny but she was cold and her eyes were closed.

I nearly jumped out of my skin when someone told us that Ginny wouldn't wake before looking up to see a young man standing there with Harry's wand but Harry apparently knew this guy, "Tom - Tom Riddle." that had my head whipping around completely stunned by that as Riddle nodded, "What do you mean she won't wake, she's not - she's not -." I gulped at that. "She's still alive but only just." Know I was really confused before Tom explained to us that he was just a memory preserved in the diary for fifteen years but when Harry asked Tom to help us get Ginny out of there but he said nothing as I helped Harry put Ginny over his should while Tom kept playing with Harry's wand. However when Harry had said something about the Basilisk coming but Tom said that it wouldn't come unless called, Harry lowered Ginny back to the floor unable to keep her up any longer before he tried to convince Tom we had to leave but then Tom told him. I could tell that something was off before Tom told us that the dairy Ginny had was her own was actually his and that she had talked to him about having to have second hand everything before telling him about how she thought that Harry or I didn't want anything to do with her all the while his eyes never leaving us. There was an almost hungry look in them before he continued that it had been very boring listening to her troubles but that he was patient and wrote back like he really cared about her before citing a few lines from it before he then told us something that stunned us. "Haven't you guessed yet, Harry Potter? It seems your brother is smarter than you, it was Ginny who opened the Chamber of Secrets she strangled the school roosters and wrote threatening messages on the wall. She set the serpent of Slytherin on the Mudbloods and the Squibs cat." I glared at Tom standing up before slapping him as he continued his bout what Ginny had written but then Ginny tried to get rid of the dairy only for Harry to find it and that it was Harry and I who he was most anxious to meet but he didn't get to meet me since I refused to go near it but then Tom told us that he wanted to meet us before telling us how he had worked hard to frame Hagrid. That made me mad he then told how it took him five whole years to find everything about the Chamber before insulting Hagrid making my magic flare up but only Dumbledore seemed to believe Hagrid didn't do it before convincing the last headmaster to keep Hagrid as a gamekeeper. "I bet Dumbledore saw right threw you."

"Well he certainly kept an annoyingly close watch on me after Hagrid was expelled, I knew it wouldn't be safe to open the Chamber again while I was still at school. But I decided leave behind a dairy, preserving my sixteen-year old self in its pages so that one day with luck I would be able to lead another in my footsteps, and finish Salazar Slytherin's noble work." Harry told him that he hadn't done anything since everyone was just paralyzed and not dead, but then Tom said that he didn't care about killing Mudbloods again since he's been wanting to meet us for many months now while I glared at him. He told us about how sad he was when Ginny got the book back wondering if Harry had found out how it worked or not she had even told him we were Parselmouths so Tom made her write her own farewell on the wall before bringing her down to the Chamber. She had put to much of herself into the dairy that she had allowed him to become corporal and that he had been waiting for us to come along with telling us that he had many questions for us which had Harry asking what they were making me wonder of the guy was really insane. "Well how is it that you two - Two skinny boys with no extraordinary magical talent - managed to defeat the greatest wizard of all time? How did you two escape with nothing but scars, whole Lord Voldemort's powers were destroyed?"

There was an odd red gleam in his hungry eyes, "Why do you care how we escaped, Voldemort was after your time." I looked at Tom curious since he should have no idea about what's happened to us because not many people know about my scar since I try to keep it hidden, "Voldemort is my past, present, and future, Harry and Kaito Potter." He said pulling Harry's wand from his pocket and began to trace it through the air writing three shimmering words" 'Tom Marvolo Riddle' then he waved the wand once and the letters of his name rearranged themselves to, 'I Am Lord Voldemort' which stunned me since no one's made that connection yet. "You see, it was a name I was already using at Hogwarts, to my most intimate friends only, of course. You think I was going to use my filthy Muggle father's name forever? I, whose veins have the blood of Salazar Slytherin himself, through my mother's side? I, keep the name of a foul, common Muggle, who abandoned me even before I was born, just because he found out his wife was a witch? No, Harry - I fashioned myself a new name, a name I knew wizards everywhere would one day fear to speak, when I had become the greatest sorcerer born!" I rolled my eyes at that knowing loads of people said that but not many could back it but Harry said that that he wasn't the greatest sorcerer in the world before saying it was Dumbledore right now and could be me in the future with training which had me smiling at him.
