Chapter 13 - Knowing the Monster in the Chamber

Then Snape took us out to our Herbology class where Professor Sprout had us pruning the Abyssinian Shrivelfigs but when we went to tip our things into the compost head we found ourselves face to face with Ernie, "I just want to say, Harry, Kaito that I'm sorry I ever suspected you two I now you'd never attack Hermione Granger, and I apologize for all the stuff I said we're all in the same boat now and well -." he held out a hand that we both shook before he headed back over to the his friend Hannah to continue working. Then he started talking about how he thought Draco might be the one who is the real Heir of Slytherin which Ron seemed to agree with but Harry said that he didn't think so but then we saw something weird since we saw several large spider's were scuttling over the ground on he outer side of the glass moving in an unnaturally straight line as though taking the shortest route to a prearranged meeting making Harry hit Ron over the head with his pruning shears, "Ouch! What're you -." Harry just pointed at the spider's progress eyes screwed up against the sun. Then we watched as they seemed to be heading straight to the Forbidden Forest and Ron didn't like that at all then once the lesson ended Professor Sprout took us to our Defense Against the Dark Art's class, we lagged behind a little so no one could hear us as we talked, "We'll have to use the invisibility cloak again, we can take Fang with us, he's used to going into the forest with Hagrid he might be of some help." Ron agreed twirling his wand nervously in his finger's, "Er - aren't there - aren't there supposed to be werewolves in the forest?" Then Harry told him that were also other creature's in the forest as we took our seat at the back of the classroom but when Lockhart tried to get us to be happy because the culprit had been caught but it wasn't verified that Hagrid had was the one behind all the attacks since no one believed such a kind person could do something like that. When Ron tried to tell them that the Minister of Magic took Hagrid just because of the last time this happened but Harry stopped him whispering that they weren't there, reminding him that they had been under the invisibility cloak when Hagrid was taken away by the Minister. I had to make my mind go blank when Lockhart started badmouthing Hagrid so I didn't use my magic to accidently kill him and I could tell Harry felt the same about it as I did so they started passing notes, along with me letting me know that they'd be going tonight so I wrote that I would make sure no one knew they were gone which had them nodding at me. The common room was now crowded since everyone had to be in there by six from now on so I went up to my room grabbing my books before sitting by the fireplace with Kuro and Sena sleeping on my shoulder's, I pretended to fall asleep on the couch once the place started becoming more and more empty as everyone went to bed. Harry had already gotten his invisibility cloak after dinner so he already had it prepared, so they played with the Weasley twins until about midnight when they and Ginny went to bed, "Be careful boys." they nodded as they left the room only to return a few hours later quietly telling me that what he thought was the monster wasn't since it was a giant spider named Aragog who feared what was the true monster in the Chamber. Then Harry started about the girl who had died in the bathroom which reminded me of Myrtle which had Ron coming to the same conclusion as we had that the young girl who had been the first victim of the creature of the Chamber which had me worried since we know knew nothing. It seemed that Ron was whishing that we had thought of that earlier rather than having to go and take but I just toned him out as I concentrated on the lessons but the Chamber and everything left everyone's minds when Professor McGonagall told us that our exams would start in one week in June.

"The whole point of keeping the school open at this time is for you to receive your education, the exams will therefore take place as usual, and I trust you all are studying well." I smiled since that's all I had been doing but everyone else seemed to think that we wouldn't have them do to what was going on with the students being petrified, but McGonagall seemed upset about it because this should have been the norm no matter what. "Professor Dumbledore's instructions were to keep the school running as normally as possible and that I need hardly point out means finding out how much you have learned this year." I looked down at the rabbits we were supposed to turn into slippers I started wondering what could be on the test coming up but Ron seemed to look like he had just been told to go to the Forbidden Forest and live there which had me almost laughing at him especially with the way his wand was now. Then three days before the first exam Professor McGonagall mad another announcement at breakfast that there was good news which had people yelling out thinking Dumbledore was coming back, or that they've caught the Heir of Slytherin, but I almost laughed when Wood shouted that the Quidditch matches were back on. McGonagall waited for everything to calm down before she told us about it, "Professor Sprout has informed me that the Mandrakes are ready for cutting at last, Tonight, we will be able to revive those people who have been Petrified, I need hardly remind you all that one of them may be able to tell us who, or what, attacked them. I am hopeful that this dreadful year will end with our catching the culprit." There was an explosion of cheering because everyone was happy about that but when Harry and I looked over at over at Draco and Blaise we saw that they nodded at us which had us smiling as they were happy that we would have our subside friend back and that's when Ron thought of something, "It won't matter that we never asked Myrtle then, Hermione'll probably have all the answer's when they wake her up! Mind you, she'll go a little crazy when she finds out that we've got exams in three days time. She hasn't studied it might be kinder to leave her where she is till they're over." Just then Ginny walked in before sitting down next to Ron looking tense and nervous while her hands were twisting in her lap, Ginny kept looking up at the top of the Gryffindor table before Ron told her to spit it out but she looked like someone who we've met before, before I remembered about Dobby. Mostly because Ginny was rocking back and forth slightly in her chair just like Dobby did when he was teetering on the edge of revealing forbidden information, "I've got to tell you something." she said but when we asked about what it seemed like she didn't want to say or know how to. However before she could say anything Percy walked over looking tired, "If you've finished eating, I'll take that seat Ginny, I'm starving I've only just got off patrol duty."
