Hey! So, I just remembered that Mikey has no need for a costume because his power can't really be enhanced and there really aren't any repercussions or down sides to his power so before I tell you about Leo's costume, I thought I'd tell you how my version of the turtles grew up and developed. Keep in mind that when they got mutated, they were exposed to bugs so, their development has characteristics of bugs! I'll do another chapter telling you how and where they got mutated.

They start of as an egg. The color of the spots on the egg determine what color they will be when they reach the larval stage. Then they hatch into a larva. At this point, their bodies are made out of a colored jelly-like substance and they have flippers instead of hands. Imagine a baby sea turtle made of jelly. Not only are they made of jelly in this state, but their round heads have fins similar to the fins on the side of squid's heads. Then they form a squishy chrysalis made out of the same material as their bodies and stay like that for about 5 hours. Then they use their new claws to shed their chrysalis and hatch into their pupa stage. Their limbs will fade from their larva color on their hands to a green color going up the arm. It'll take them the same amount of time to mature to their final state as a human child. When they hatch into the pupa state, that's when you can give them their ages and zodiac signs since they hatch at different times, sometimes 5 days apart. Something you should know about their larva state is that they are not squishy themselves. Their bodies are quite firm. They also have a glitter like substance within their bodies giving them an ethereal look.

My version of splinter actually came up with their bandanna colors based on their jelly state!

Did you know that my Casey and April were friends with the turtles since they were larva because when splinter was a human, their parents were friends with him? And when they formed the chrysalis, they panicked because there were just colored lumps at the bottom of the tank and no turtles! Now that's true friendship!

When they reached the pupa stage, they could walk on 2 legs but they can't talk so they use sign language. They can make vocalizations but can't form words. And my Donnie has an oral fixation, so..... imagine having an infant that bites you and having to sign to him to not do it. Yikes! But 5 days after they reached the pupa stage, everyone of the turtles learned to speak English except Donnie. Splinter tried to get him to speak but all he does chirp and purr and hiss. He didn't speak until he was 13.

Fun fact #1: they glow under black light in every stage including fully mature.

Fun fact #2: they emit a chirping noise that sounds like ethereal giggling

Fun fact #3: they can only breathe under water as a larva. When they exit this stage, they can't breathe under water but they can hold their breath for 20 to 30 minutes under water.
