Chapter Nine

Oh my God, what was that f******* dumb a** doing to Ally Cat? My Ally Cat?

Murder was something that Rodney was seriously considering when he opened up the Auditorium doors and saw dip s*** with his hands down a crying Ally Cat’s pants. If it wouldn’t have traumatized Alex even more, Rodney probably would’ve done him in. Instead he settled for reaching around Alex and bloodying the moron’s nose. He may be Rodney’s best friend, but that doesn’t mean that Rodney would look over or condone such behavior, even if it wasn’t his Ally Cat.

Rodney didn’t wait for an explanation; he just scooped the sobbing boy off of his best friend’s lap and ran out of the Auditorium with him. He held the now shivering boy against his chest and tucked his head under his chin, running the whole way. He wasn’t sure where he was headed until he saw his car like a gleaming beacon in the parking lot. He freed up a hand, which was surprisingly easy to do, and unlocked his car and opened the door. He crawled into the backseat with Alex still clinging to him like a baby monkey.

“You’re safe now,” he said pressing his lips against the top of Alex’s head. He wished he could do so much more; he knew how awful that would be for such an innocent little flower to be held down and groped like that. It was f****** sick.

Alex tried to bury himself into Rodney’s embrace. To get lost in his warm chest. But he just couldn’t ditch what had just happened to him. Casey had had trouble for a moment, but managed to slip his hand down there before Rodney had barged in. It was an awful first experience. Even though Rodney didn’t let it go far, it was still too much for the innocent blonde boy.

“Do you want to me to take you home?” Rodney asked pushing a couple of strands of blonde hair out of Alex’s face.

Alex just nodded listening to the soothing sound of Rodney’s breathing. It was a little faster than it should be, but then again it wasn’t as fast as Casey’s while he was touching Alex. Just thinking about it made him shiver.

“Are you going to be okay back here? I don’t think I can drive with you on my lap,” Rodney asked looking down at Alex with concern.

Alex nodded again. When Rodney realized he wasn’t going to get a real response he repositioned Alex to where he was lying across the backseat and then gave him the blanket he always kept in his backseat. If Alex knew what that blanket had seen he would have probably died, but it was the best that Rodney could do and it had been washed recently so it wasn’t that bad. He got behind the wheel and started driving. He was more careful than normal, knowing he had fragile cargo in the backseat. Without thinking he lit up a cigarette to calm his nerves. He wanted so badly to drive back to the school and kick his best friend in the balls. Twice. He was so mad he wasn’t even acting normally.

Finally the car stopped moving and Alex’s stomach stopped heaving. Lying down like that in the backseat had made him carsick, but he couldn’t do anything about it. He couldn’t do anything period. He just laid there feeling numb.

Rodney jumped out and opened the car door. He observed that Alex hadn’t moved since he had moved them himself. “Do you want me to carry you in or can you walk?” Rodney didn’t really give Alex the chance to respond, he just picked up the boy and carried him into his home. He went straight to the loft where the futon and big screen was and laid the traumatized boy down.

“We’re home now. It’s okay. Do you want some food, or something to drink?”

Finally, Alex’s lips unfroze, but he wished he didn’t have to speak. “This isn’t my house.”

“Oh, s***! I didn’t think, I just brought you to my home. I can take you to your home if you want.”

Alex thought for a moment, but decided he didn’t want to go home yet. His mother would ask entirely too many questions. He didn’t want to answer them right now. “No, I want to stay here for a while if that’s okay.”

Rodney cracked a small smile, despite wanting to do anything he could for his Ally Cat he was over joyed to hear that he would rather stay with him then go home. “That’s perfectly fine, Ally Cat. Is there anything I can do for you?”

“Do you have any Pink Lemonade? If not water is fine.”

Rodney chuckled. Pink Lemonade. He would ask for something like that. It was so Ally Cat-like. “I think I can come up with something. Are you going to be okay alone?”

Alex sighed. He didn’t want to be alone, but Rodney couldn’t carry him around everywhere he went so he would have to suck it up.  So he nodded.

“Alright, I won’t be gone long,” Rodney replied doing that thing where you mess up someone’s hair and almost everyone ever gets annoyed by it. Only Alex just cracked a small smile and laid his head on his hand, enjoying the feeling of the fabric against his cheek.

Little did Alex know that Rodney was going to have to walk to the end of the street to the little corner store to get his drink. No one in the house drank anything besides pop, milk, and coffee.  But he didn’t mind it one bit, if he did he would have just told Alex to drink some caffeinated beverage like the rest of the world. He traipsed down the stairs and slipped on a pair of shoes. He didn’t bother with his car; it was easier to just walk there. He hurried as fast as possible only to realize he had forgotten his wallet in his locker.

“Can you put it on a tab or something, please,” Rodney begged batting his thick brown lashes and the girl behind the counter.

“Rodney, you know we don’t do that here. Just because the owner still thinks this is the fifties doesn’t mean that we have tabs. But I’ll make you a deal, if I can get your number it’s on me.”

Rodney cracked a wolfy grin. Even when he wasn’t really trying, his charm raked in the ladies and the occasional gentlemen, but it was Pennsylvania after all. “Sounds like a good deal to me,” he said with a wink and put his number into her phone.

He had no intentions with the poor girl, but if he wanted to get Alex his Pink Lemonade then he had to at least give her his number.

“I’ll text you later,” the girl said with an excited smile. She had liked him for a while now, ever since she started working there.

Rodney gave a nod and then grabbed his bag and high tailed it out the door. He ran the rest of the way home to find Alex sleeping. He laughed to himself and stretched out beside the sleeping boy. He shimmied as close as possible to his little Ally Cat without waking him up and admired how petite he was. It was like he fit perfectly against Rodney’s body. He was just planning on lying there with the boy until he woke up, but then his lids started getting heavier and heavier until he slipped out of consciousness.

I wrote this out a day or two ago, but I let it sit trying to see if I could come up with more. I realized that was a good place to end. The next chapter will be longer though.
