No one's POV-

His arranged mate, Sakari.

She was well known in the village, she was outgoing and nice to everyone.

But Ao'nung could see right through her facade. She was like that only to impress people.

They were arranged when they were young.

Once Ao'nung told his parents about his dream, they knew what that meant.

But even though his soulmate died, he still was meant to be Olo'eyktan.

So, he was arranged with Sakari.

A young girl from a family of hunters.

Ronal thought she would make a decent Tsahik for the people. So they proceeded with the arrangement.

"Nung, are you okay? You seem distracted" The voice of the girl got Ao'nung out of his thoughts.

"Uh- yeah, I'm alright.." Ao'nung said, trying to get away from the girl.

"Did you miss me? I've been so lonely without you.." she said as she leaned on Ao'nung's arm. This only disgusted Ao'nung even more.

He never liked the idea of an arranged marriage. And now not only that, but his soulmate was alive.

"I spoke with your mother today, she said she wanted us to mate soon! Maybe when the tulkun arrive!" She said with a smile.

And his heart dropped.

The Tulkun were meant to arrive soon, 20 moons or so.

It was not enough time, he didn't want to mate with Sakari.

He had a soulmate, and she was right there in his village.

And he'd be damned if he was going to let anyone get in between him and his soulmate.

He backed away from the girl and looked away. "Unbelievable, I'm not doing anything THAT soon. So forget it, Sakari" he said coldly.

The girl pouted and tried to hug Ao'nung again, but he kept backing away.

"Come on Nung...It'll be special, think about it!" She said.

Ao'nung scoffed and rolled his eyes. "No, I'll talk to my mother. But it's not happening the day the tulkun return" he said and walked away.

He stopped at the entrance of the hut of the Sully's. He saw Y/N and Tuk playing together, laughing.

Then, Y/N noticed someone at the door, her eyes met Ao'nung's eyes and he froze.

He felt his cheeks slowly warming up.

The girl walked towards him and lightly smiled. "What's going on? Everything good?" She asked.

Ao'nung tried to make up a sentence but just mumbled.

"What's up? You need something?" She tilted her head to the side, Ao'nung could see curiosity in her eyes.

"I just..can I talk to you? In private?" He asked softly. The girl nodded and walked out of her hut.

-

The two teenagers were walking on the beach, it was silent but somehow it was comfortable.

Their steps were slow, allowing themselves to forget about the world.

And that's when Ao'nung started to think logically.

What was he going to tell Y/N?

'Hey, I found out you're my soulmate, I thought you died but now you're here and we're meant to be' Yeah, no.

Y/N would think he's a creep if he approached her that way.

But at the same time, he was confused.

Asking himself how they would start a relationship.

Does she even like him?

He didn't think this through.

"Ao'nung, is everything alright?" The voice of the girl got him out of his thoughts.

That's another thing he noticed about her.

Her voice.

It was raspy, but at the same time soft.

It wasn't annoying like Sakari.

And her words actually made sense, Sakari on the other hand.

"Yeah, everything's fine. It's just.. today was a weird day for me" He said while looking down.

"Do you want to tell me?" She asked, the boy just nodded.

"I went to the Cove of Ancestors today, to clear my mind. And... nevermind" He shook his head before saying too much.

He felt a hand touching his own. He looked to the side and saw Y/N's hand.

She took both of Ao'nung's hand and brought them up, chest level.

She looked at him while softly caressing his hands with her thumbs.

"Ao'nung, I know we didn't had the best beginning. We insulted each other and I apologize for it. But now I want to be someone you can trust" she said softly, never breaking eye contact.

"If you don't want to tell me, that's fine. But you can rely on me if you need it. I can be a safe space for you if you want me to" she said with a gentle smile.

And his heart skipped a beat.

Usually, he doesn't trust people.

He's very kept to himself with his own thoughts. Deep thoughts.

He doesn't tell anything to his friends or his family.

But he felt different now, with her.

He felt a light tear in his eye, threatening to escape.

He looked down and tried to cover his eyes.

"Sorry, it's just.." he started, but was cut off.

"No, no. Don't apologize, It's okay. I'm not here to judge" Y/N said softly, holding onto his arm to make him feel safe.

"I'm not used to people saying that to me, sorry" he said, looking at the girl again once he wiped the tear away.

"It's alright, you don't have to apologize" she said, lightly shaking her head.

"Did I look vulnerable?" he asked.

Eclipse then started, the white freckles around their bodies lit up.

"I don't think crying makes you vulnerable, I won't judge if you cry" she said with a soft smile.

Ao'nung lightly smiled at her words. Never once in his life he felt so connected with someone.

Not his family, not his friends, not his arranged mate.

Only his soulmate.

With all the differences between them, everyone would think that they could never work out, a barrier would be between them.

But Ao'nung saw more to it.

He felt like they fit together perfectly.

Two pieces that were made to be with each other.

And he didn't care how he would make it, but he was sure of one thing.

He wasn't going to let anything get between them.

Death almost did, but now he'll make sure to be around just for her.

His eyes are set on her.
