No one's POV–
It was a new day, everyone in the village was going on about their day.
In the Sully hut, Y/N was sitting alone, looking down.
She was working on a bracelet, different beads and colored pearls were around her.
She was beyond focused on her mission.
It has been simply 4 days after her talk with Ao'nung, where he cried.
They spoke even more every day, laughed together, went on walks during the night and one time, she even fell asleep in his shoulder.
She felt something odd whenever she was around him, like a connection.
It feels like they've known each other their whole lives. And without noticing, she started to rely in his presence.
Always having him around helped to put her mind at ease.
Of course, her twin Lo'ak noticed them getting along, laughing together.
So he constantly annoyed her, even more when they were all eating together as a family.
Her concentration was interrupted when she felt someone shake her.
She looked back and saw the one and only Lo'ak.
"Hey, come with me, I wanna show you something" he said.
Y/N nodded and got up.
She grabbed the finished bracelet and placed it inside the mini bag that rested on her hips.
–
The twins were now on their Ilus, the boy leading the way.
"What do you want to show me? We're drifting away from the island" Y/N said, she knew they would get in trouble if they went too far.
"We're here, get off your ilu" Lo'ak said as he got off the slimy creature. His twin followed his words.
They dived down and were met with a big creature. Lo'ak then turned to his twin.
"This is Payakan, he's my friend" Lo'ak signed, Y/N nodded excitedly and swam towards the tulkun.
After introducing herself, they went back to the surface with the tulkun.
"So he's the reason why sometimes I don't see you in the village?" Y/N asked with a smile as she held onto the fin of the tulkun.
"Yeah, basically. But he's a great companion, I wanted you to meet him" Lo'ak said with a sweet smile.
"Aww, you do care about your dear twin" Y/N said mockingly.
"I would feed you to an akula, you're weird" Lo'ak replied while rolling his eyes.
"Hey! I may be weird, but you LOOK weird" Y/N laughed.
"We're twins, we look the same sis, stop playing" Lo'ak said, stating the obvious.
"I'm far more good looking than you, you look like those creatures from Dad's world, what were they called? Rats!" Y/N pointed her finger to her twin while smiling.
"Oh haha, you're so funny I'm dying by your sense of humor" Lo'ak said, rolling his eyes again.
"He can't take a joke, ain't that right Payakan?" Y/N asked while lightly patting the fin where she was sitting on.
Payakan lifted his fin and sent Y/N flying into the water, Lo'ak laughed and pointed at the place where his twin fell.
"HAHA! Loser!" he said as he held onto the fin.
Payakan lifted his fin again and sent Lo'ak flying now.
"Who's the loser now, loser?" Y/N asked with a smile.
–
They spent their day playing, laughing and making jokes with Payakan.
It was almost eclipse, and they had to leave.
"We're sorry bud, our parents will kill us if we're not home before eclipse" Y/N said as she caressed the head of the tulkun.
"We'll see you soon, alright?" Lo'ak said with a smile.
Payakan made a weird noise and dived down, leaving the two kids.
"He's really nice, thanks for bringing me here today" Y/N said with a smile.
"I only really trust you with meeting him, at least for now. No one else would get it" Lo'ak said while looking down.
Y/N tilted her head curiously.
"They treat him like an outcast. And.. we both know a thing or two about getting that treatment, ain't that right?" Lo'ak said, trying to make a joke.
Y/N sighed pitifully and swam towards her twin to hug him.
"We'll always have each other, you know that" Y/N said softly.
"Yeah, even if we're disowned or barely alive" Lo'ak said, looking up to meet with the eyes of his twin.
"It's us until the end of times" she said completing the phrase, they both laughed lightly and called for their ilus.
They held onto each other as they waited for the slimy creatures to come.
But Y/N was questioning the situation, she saw them earlier, they remained close to them. So where were they now?
Out of instinct, she dived her head down into the water.
She looked to the sides and her eyes grew in fear.
An akula was heading to them, and it was fast.
Y/N came back to the surface and grabbed the hand of her twin, swimming away.
"An akula is coming, swim away!" She said desperately. Lo'ak got the memo and they started swimming away, escaping the akula.
But it wasn't going to give up easily, it kept chasing them.
They both swam to different directions, but the akula followed Lo'ak.
Y/N looked back and saw her twin, desperately swimming from one way to another, trying to survive.
An ilu came to her, Lo'ak's ilu.
She held onto it and it swam towards Lo'ak.
She let go of the ilu and swam towards the akula, her mission was to distract the creature.
She threw a punch at the creature by its side.
Now it was chasing her.
Lo'ak quickly got on his ilu and went to save his twin.
He stuck his hand out for her to grab, and she quickly did so.
But the akula charged unexpectedly.
Y/N felt it, the akula took a bite on her leg.
It didn't took a part out, but it was bleeding, badly.
Once they got to surface, she began screaming by the stinging sensation in her leg, blood dripping out quickly.
"Shit! Y/N! Stay with me, I'll get you some help!" Lo'ak said as the ilu swam as fast as it could back to the island.
"You really did feed me to an akula, huh bro.." She said weakly, more focused on the pain.
It was one of those poisonous akulas that bit her, she knew by tiredness quickly taking over her body.
"You know I didn't mean it.. come on stay with me, we're almost there" Lo'ak said desperately.
"I feel tired.. I'll just close my -- eyes for a moment, Lo'ak.." Y/N said softly.
Lo'ak got even more scared.
"No! Sis don't do that! Please, stay with me!" Lo'ak begged.
Y/N slowly closed her eyes, and the last thing she heard was someone calling her name, begging.
"Y/N!!"
