I fought for a few seconds on whether I should just leave while I waited for the door to open. Just as I was about to bolt the door opened and Auntie Mitsuki stood in front of me. I watched as her face began to contort into something of worry, relief, and fear. "I - Izuku? Is that really you?" I was quiet for a few seconds till I saw tears start to slide down her face and then I nodded.
"Yea... It's me, Auntie." As soon as the words left my lips I was pulled inside and entrapped into a hug while she began to quietly sob into my shoulder.
"Oh my god... You're back! Oh, Inko your boy is alright!"
"Mistuki whats- Izuku!" The shock of the warm reception was finally worn by the time Uncle had joined the hug and now I stood there and hugged them back as I uselessly fought my own tears.
"I'm sorry I took so long to come back... I had some things I wanted to check off my list before I came to visit."
"Visit?! You aren't going to stay?"
"I can't... Not yet anyway. I'm not cleared of my mother's murder yet, even if I went to tell them who really did it I would still be arrested and locked away. Truth be told I shouldn't have come to visit right now since you guys are still probably being watched... Even so, I'll be visiting more often, not as I look now though."
"Izuku we can keep you safe from the police until you have solid evidence on who did it. You don't need to go." Masaru told me. All I could do at that moment was give them a sad smile as I tilted my head at them.
"I can't put you guys in danger. Katsuki already hates me because of my quirk and you getting arrested, Auntie. I would hate myself even more if you both got hurt trying to keep me safe. I can assure you I'm at a safe place and am doing well though. I'm a very well-known hero too, though the pros call me a vigilante."
"Mage...?" Uncle said with a small gasp.
"Izuku," Mitsuki called to gain my attention. "I won't force you to stay here because I know that isn't what Inko would want me to do. She would want you to live your dream like you are and free yourself from the false accusations. So keep yourself safe and visit us okay? I trust you."
"Thank you, Auntie. I'll make sure to drag the bastard to hell when I get finished with him. As much as I would love to stay a bit longer, there's a little girl who is calling for me. I'll explain everything better and stay longer when I come back. Lock your doors and windows when I leave." I cast an advanced protection spell on them just before my magic brought me to the small girl calling my name.
"Zuzu?" Eri's voice waved through the darkness as I could hear that she had been crying.
"I'm here Eri. It's okay now." I told her as I picked her up and wrapped her in a hug. "What happened little one?"
"I had a bad dream that he had me again and that you got hurt really badly..." I rocked back and forth gently as I rubbed my hand up and down her back in a comforting manner.
"Hmm, well if you want I can take care of him so you won't ever have to worry about me getting hurt or you seeing him ever again."
"But what if you get hurt trying to take care of him? I don't want you to get hurt at all Zuzu... You've already been hurt so much..." She told me as her small hands gripped the back of my shirt.
"Eri if it's your wish I'll make it happen alright? I'll even make it so I won't get hurt either. I wouldn't even have to leave your side."
"Really? Are you telling me the truth Zuzu?" I nodded as she sat back to look me in the eyes.
"I swear it, little princess," I answered as I placed my forehead on hers. "Let's get you back to sleep okay?" I dried her tears and laid her back down on her bed before tucking her back in. "Would you like me to sing you a lullaby?"
"Can you Zuzu?" Once more I nodded and placed Lye on the bed next to her again as I began to sing.
"You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine. You make me happy when clouds are gray, You'll never know dear, how much I love you please don't take my Sunshine away." I began while using my magic to make some mint green stars dance around the room for the small child. The child whom I wanted to show only good things to from now on. While it definitely seemed odd to show her stars when the song I sang to her was about the sun I took into account that the Sun was a star and made it make sense.
I finished singing the song and landed the stars on the ceiling while making them glow. Then I began another song. "Hush little Eri don't say a word Zuzu's gonna buy you another Lye if that Lye doesn't purr Zuzu's gonna buy you a whole toy store, if that whole toy store won't make you happy I'm gonna get you a very rare puppy. Now if that puppy doesn't bark Zuzu will get you a horse ranch and cart, and if that cart gets broken I'm gonna buy you lots of theme park tokens. However, if those Tokens don't work then you'll still be the best princess that I know." (Yes I rewrote an entire lullaby for the little bean. I know it is not as long as the regular one but my brain took a giant shit on me so that's all you get for that.)
Once her breathing evened out I hovered my hand above her forehead and said a small chant to give her nothing but good dreams for the rest of the night. It was the least I could do for her with all the hell she had had to endure her entire life.
"Sleep well, little princess. I'll be here when you wake up. Lye, you stay here with her okay?" Lye nodded a little bit before making himself comfortable and curling up close to the small child. With my bed occupied and Eri sound asleep I brought myself to where Tenko was and asked if I could crash for a few hours before going back to school.
