We were all silent except for the sobbing of our new found comrades. I cautiously walk towards the duo but John held me back, "Don't Dave, they need each other right now."

I bowed my head in sorrow, I didn't know this troll well, but he meant something to Karkat and it made my heart ache.

A couple of zombies started to come out into the street and Rose quickly dispatched of them with her wands. More zombies started to come down the street and and I wretched myself out of John's arm and placed my own hand on Karkat's shoulder.

"I'm sorry dude, but we have to get off of the streets, none of us are in the shape to fight."

Karkat shrugged my hand off, "FUCK YOU, YOU DONT KNOW A DAMN FUCKING THING ABOUT LOSS. SOLLUX WAS MY BEST FRIEND AND FEFS MATESP--"

I shoved him down, "don't tell me I don't know a fucking thing about loss! I had to put my own bro down so don't you dare say another fucking word to me about not knowing shit."

Karkat looked stunned, but not any less hurt nor pissed. I turned my back and Feferi helped him up, "Let's go Karkat, )(e's rig)(t we need to be somew)(ere safe."

I turned and looked at them a hint of sadness in my eyes, though no one could see. I still mourned my bro and I can relate to the loss of his friend, Karkat needed someone right now and I wish I could be the guy for the job...

But I can't be.

Nepeta

"Um...guys? We s)(ould get into t)(e tower now, t)(ere are a lot of t)(ose t)(ings coming our way." Feferi said looked behind us. We all turned around and a small cluster of them were coming down the street.

We were all worn out and we couldn't handle another fight no matter how small the group was. I limped away towards the wall and retracted my claws.

":33 Jade, come help me!" Jade jogged ver to me and I called to everyone else, ":33 get your tails in gear and get over here! You can hop the wall, Jade and I can boost you up."

Jade linked her hands in mine and we lowered ourselves. Rose and Kanaya were the first to come over. They muttered something as they walked over to us, it sounded like they were arguing.

They stopped in front of us and Rose gave a glare to Kanaya as the troll placed her foot in our hands first. The weight was alright, but Jade and I were strong, Kanaya reached the top of the stone wall and looked down, "It's All Clear, Not A Zombie Nor Any Blood In Sight." She dropped down on the other side yelling over to send Rose over.

We hoist her over and then the others started to come over. John commented that he didn't need help and so he just flew over taking Dave by the hand leaving Feferi and Karkat.

They looked worse for wear and I almost dropped my hands because I wanted to give Karkitty a hug, but instead he picked up Feferi by the waist and placed her bare feet in out hands and we lifted her up.

She gripped the top and pulled herself over then jumped down. Hoisting Karkat up was a lot harder...

He wasn't fat, but he sure as hell wasn't skinny either. Once he lifted himself up to the ledge Jade and I both sighed out of relief. We smiled to each other, but the groaning of the upcoming zombies was getting louder.

Karkat lend down a hand and I helped Jade up. After she dropped to the other side I jumped up to reach Karkat's hand, but he was too far up and with my injured leg it didn't help the matter.

I turned my head and looked behind me, the group was closer, "GRAB MY HAND FOR SHITS SAKE NEPETA!" Karkat yelled.

My heart was racing and I made another leap but missed again. The group was so close now. I wouldn't be able to make it. I turned from the wall and painfully at a limping run ran away from both safety and from my doom.

Karkat called after me but I didn't look back. I extended my claws again in case I needed them, but the group of zombies seemed to only be behind me. In one if the hives backyards I saw a tree house.

It was my only option, going into a house would do me no good and this hanging house was right there. Taking my claws back in I skittered up the rope and once at the top sliced it so no one and nothing else could get up here.

I was about two blocks from the tower and it's highest point could be seen from where I was so I guess it wasn't that bad.

"Wwell fuck," I whipped around and Ampora sat there in the corner that was covered in shadows, his scarf was missing and his clothes were tattered, but it was him. "You're not here to savve me are you Nep."

I perused my lips and leaned against the opposite wall, ":33 No, and don't mew even think about hitting on me Ampurra."

"It's the end of the fuckin world Nep, hitting on anyone is that last thing on my mind." He rolled his eyes, but hurt was spread across his face.

I felt a bit bad and I loosened up a bit, ":33 Sorry ampurra, it's just hard to furget how this used to be I guess."

"Yeah, wwell..." He looked around like he was trying to change the subject, "wwhere's that overgrown, sweaty muscleman of a beast of yours?"

Pain shot through my chest and tears formed in my eyes, ":33 dead," Is all I whisper.

Karkat

We walk into the cathedral that was for the followers of the Sufferer, odd that it was in the Highblood district. The place looked untouched and a small layer of dust was covering everything. The place was silent as we walked through the open doors.

I took one look back half expecting Nepeta to be right behind me, but she wasn't here. Night was close and we shut the doors behind us and starting to move pews to block the doors. The windows were high up so we didn't need to worry about those.

Jade and Rose began lighting lanterns as it was getting darker in here. I took a walk not wanting to think about Sollux or Nepeta, I was supposed to be a leader. A fucking leader and I let my best friend die and sweet Nepeta.

Fuck! Why in the fuck did this have to happen?

I punch the wall in front of me instantly regretting that decision because it hurt like a bitch and everyone started looking at me weird. I was about to tell them to fuck off when an unmistakable noise could be heard throughout the place...

"FUCK." Was all I could manage to say.
