Damon walks Alaric into the boarding house after he has said goodbye to his new girlfriend Andie Star.

"So, John Gilbert gave me this to kill Elijah." Damon says before unrolling the protective cloth around the dagger. "said you have to dip the dagger in the remains of an old white ash tree that dates back to the Originals. If there's any truth in that."

"So, you think it's a set up?" Alaric asks from where he is picking up the dagger.

"It could be. Guy's a weasel. Wouldn't put anything past him." Damon explains before heading toward the bar. "What are you up to today, Mr Saltzman?"

Alaric follows him over to the bar, "Well, Jenna and I were supposed to go to her family's Lake house but somehow, we both got roped into doing this Historical Society thing at the Lockwood's."

"Where Elijah's the guest of honour." Damon points out.

"Tell me you're not gonna kill him at the tea party." Alaric pleads.

"No. that would be stupid. I want to know his endgame before I kill him, but I do think it's time Elijah and I officially met." Damon says.

"Are you sure that is a good idea? I heard about your official meeting with Stiles and how well that went." Alaric mocks.

"Speaking of things, I need to know and people I need to kill. I can't believe that scrawny kid packs that big of a punch." Damon says whilst holding his jaw.

"You're not killing him, Damon." Alaric says.

"Why does everybody keep telling me that." Damon asks, frustrated.

"We have no idea what he is. You could get yourself killed" Alaric points out.

"I didn't know you cared Ric."

Stiles is hiding in his room there is the Historical Society's tea party going on downstairs and Stiles wants no part in it. Not because he doesn't want to talk to people about history. I kind of really wants to tell people about his essay on the history of the male circumcision and watch as the fancy pants rich people react.

No, instead Stiles is hiding because the guest star of the evening is an apparent writer called Elijah Smith. And considering the fact that the warlock told him that a man called Elijah wanted to talk with him, calling him void and the fact that the name sounds totally fake, Stiles doesn't want to risk leaving his room.

So instead, he is sat on his bed and listening, like a stalker to Carol's conversation with the man.

"Have you spent much time in Richmond for your book? There's such a wealth of history there." Carol asks.

"No, I'm focusing mostly on the smaller regions of Virginia. Lots of research. Strictly academic." Elijah answers.

Stiles snorts when he hears Carol call his reply fascinating.

"I heard that you have a son and a nephew staying with you at the moment." Elijah says causing Stiles to stiffen.

"Yes..." Carol trail off not sure how to reply.

"I was just wondering why I hadn't seen them." Elijah says lightly.

"Oh well, Tyler, that's my son, is off with some friends at the moment and I believe Stiles to be in his room, probably doing his catch-up work." Carol explains.

Stiles looks over at his already completed catch up work that he just needs to hand in and then gets back to listening.

"Stiles actually is an enjoyer of history." Carol says.
