Café was having a rush of big orders from some days, me and mom got busy in the café while Lily and Rose were gone on a school trip. Their were parties, weddings, birthdays and we were working all day and baking all night. It was amazing for our café and business.
But one thing was on my mind, well not a thing but person, that is Grace somehow even when I was busy she would come into my thoughts. I was really intrigued by her and I have no idea why she was just a simple girl. But her confidence and her way of interaction were something and their was something in her that was pulling me towards her.
I was still in her thoughts and mixing some donut batter when mom entered the kitchen and called me but I was so into her thoughts I was not really listening to anything around me
"CHASE" mom shouted and moved her hand in front of my eyes.
"Yes, mom donut's will be done in an hour", I said to her and start making donuts.
"Chase, are you okay my boy, I said that we don't need any more donuts, but I guess you were thinking something deeply. You can talk to me about everything." She said to me.
"Nothing mom I was just thinking about something I read online, nothing serious", I said to her. I love my mom but I can't tell her I was thinking about her best friends daughter, well for two reasons first she would tell Lisa and second she would plan my wedding.
I don't want her to plan a wedding again and after what my ex did was enough for me and mom to go through she was like a snake dress like a puppy well I don't know how to describe her anyway.
She did turn my world upside down we were together all through high school and after university we pursue our careers but always try to make time for each other, but when I proposed her , she rejected me and left me their hanging. I was devastated by this, mom never liked her much but I didn't listen to her that time. After couple of month's she came back with a huge diamond ring on her finger and a wedding card that she gave to lily because mom and I were out that day.
And her mother came after that to book a wedding cake and told my mom how great now my ex is with her fiancé, and she was saying that she was in the right relation now, and she dated her fiancé for a year and I'm sad for Chase but happy for my daughter.
Well what can I say mother like daughter both run after money, but I thought we have a future, But everything was clearly not well. And some of my friends even came by to tell how awful she was but they never said anything because of me and she was cheating behind my back since high school, but I was busy and always helping mom so I didn't see it.
Well old things are lessons for future, and I'm happy now then before. Sometimes are never meant to work.
"Mom, I'm going for a walk" I told her and left from the back door, mom was by the counter.
I walk to the park and sat on a bench. There were some kids playing around and I thought of Grace. How she was looking when she came to café not for a second I could take my eyes off of her she was like breath of a fresh air and I fell really mesmerized by her. Her face when mom was talking about different deserts, Mom really liked her and talk about her.
I was sitting their sometime then came back to café. I saw mom was talking with Lisa and she saw me first and smiled at me.
"Chase how are you", Lisa asked me and pulled me in for a hug.
"I'm good, how are you and how is Darren", I asked her and sat with them.
"Well Darren being Darren always running and doing things here and their, and giving me a headache", Lisa said with a sigh and laughed with mom and me.
"So, What do you need today Lisa, I baked some muffins with mom just an hour ago", I asked her.
"Well Today I'm here for some chocolate cake Grace loved It and I am going back tomorrow ",Lisa said to me and mom.
"Lisa call grace back for the weekend, I didn't get get time to talk with her", Mom asked Lisa with a smile.
"Emily she is always busy, I could hardly get her here and she came back after years", she said with a said smile. "But, let see if I can arrange something in all our favor's, right now Darren is also missing her, and he can try to hide it but I can see in his eyes".
"Well, I hope you figure it out, I want to have some tea and talk with grace, after listening to you for years about Grace I feel like I know her still not know her", Mom said to Lisa.
I start packing Lisa's order and excused myself from the table. But, I was listening to their conversation.
"Emily, Grace was such a sweet child but as she started her company that girl went missing, I know I always meet her but at the same time I miss my little princess, I want to take Darren with me all the time but he always find excuses", Lisa said to mom with said smile and continued "I'm concern more for Darren now we all are going to our work he is going to stay here alone. How will he manage here".
"Why, I thought Zack was working at the station", Mom asked Lisa because Zack has been working in station and is quit known and loved by everyone here.
"He got promoted and is moving to New York next week and he will stay with grace until he finds an apartment their", Lisa said this and it was a surprise to us as well.
"Here you go Lisa all the things are packed up ", I said as I put the bag on table.
"Thank you Chase, I'll meet you when I'll be back and try to get Grace here too", Lisa said as she got up and gave mom hug and then me.
"Sure, have a safe trip." Mom said told Lisa and they wish farewell.
Mom got an Liking for Grace I have known it but now I know I'm not the only one waiting for her arrival again, She has an aura which attracts everyone around her.
