"Dose that clear your confusion?" I asked after I had explained my full story and the story of The Dread Pirate Roberts.
"Yeah..." Nico said sounding a little baffled which I couldn't say I blamed him.
Nico then walked away and as he did he fell into quicksand that neither of us had noticed
"NICO!" I yelled in a panic before I quickly looked around for a way to save him.
I looked and saw a long vine and cut it, then I tied it onto a large tree root that was sticking up and then tied it around my waist and hoped it was long enough before I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and dived into the quicksand.
I pushed myself deeper and deeper until I felt Nico's hand. I then grabbed his hand and the vine and holding him as tight as I could I pulled up as my lungs began to beg for air.
After what seemed like forever we broke the surface and crawled out and away from the quicksand gasping for air.
"You....sure...we....won't...die..here?" Nico asked between breaths
I rolled over to face him and pulled him to me and held him until we both got our breath back.
"So long as we have each other we can survive anything" I said as I pulled away to look him in the eyes.
Nico then pulled me to him a kissed me then he pulled away and placed his head against my chest.
"Don't ever leave me again" Nico said.
"I don't plan on it" I said hugging him
"I think we have a fair chance of making it out of here" I said as I let go and we both got up.
"Think about it, there are three things that people fear most about the fire swamp and we've already face them and know how to deal with them" I said as we continued walking
"I we haven't faced all of them" Nico said
"We faced the fire spurts and we know that there's a noise right before they shot up, and because of you we now know what the quicksand looks like. But please try not to find things out in a way that endangers your life" I said
"But what about the third one?" Nico asked
"The R.O.U.S's?" I asked
"Yeah" Nico said
"Just because we deal with myths dosen't mean all of them are real, I highly doubt there are Rodents Of Unusual Size here" I said right before something jumped at me from behind and bit into my shoulder making me scream in pain and fall to the ground.
"Will!" Nico yelled running over to help.me as he pulled his dagger out.
As he ran over more R.O.U.S's started to appear but Nico cut them down in seconds them he stabbed the one on me
"What was that you told me? Tey not to find things out in a way the endangers your life" Nico said with a slight smirk from the irony of it all as he helped me up.
"We need to something with you shoulder, it looks bad" Nico said with concern
"I'll just apply pressure on it" I said
"Are you sure that is going to be enough?" Nico asked
"It'll have to be, at least until we get out" I said
"Then we need to hurry" Nico said
It took us around 30 more minutes before we came to the edge of the fire swamp and walked out.
"We made it" Nico said right before a small group out people rode up on horseback
"Surrender!" A woman said
"Are you saying you surrender to me? I guess I'll let you live" I said
"You're brave I'll give you that. But don't be stupid, you'll only die" The woman said
"How can I die if you can't capture us? We know the secrets of the fire swamp and can make a life there if needed, your welcome to came for a visit when if you want to die" I said
"I'm warning you, surrender" The woman said
"No!" I said.
"I'll only tell you this once more, surrender!" The woman yelled
"I'll welcome death before I surrender to the likes of you!" I yelled. There was no way I was going to lose Nico after I had just gotten him back
"Do you swear you won't hurt him?!" Nico yelled suddenly
"What?" I asked at the same time as the woman
"If I go with you and we surrender, do you swear not to hurt him?" Nico said
"On the river styx" The woman said
"He came from the pirate ship Revenge. Swear to me that you'll return him there" Nico said
"I swear on the river styx that he will be returned" The woman said and then Nico turned to me and spoke softly
"I didn't lie when I said I die the day I lost you. I can't do that again and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you when I could have saved you" Nico said
"I'll find a way back to you, I swear on the river styx" I said before someone grabbed Nico's arm and pulled him onto a horse and rode off
"Luke, take him to the Pit of Despair." The woman said once everyone but her and the man next to her were out of sight
"But you swore on the river styx to return him to his ship" Luke said
"Yes, but I never said when" The woman said with a smirk before she rode off.
"You have a scar over your right eye" I said looking at Luke
"Aren't you observant" Luke said
"I just met someone recently who's looking for a man of your description" I said
Luke got off his horse, walked over to me and grabbed my arm and pulled me back towards the horse and as he did I looked back and noticed why Nico had done what he did.
In the trees behind us had been several archers I had failed to notice that would have killed me.
"So, what are you going to do with me?" I asked
"You'll find out soon enough" Luke said before he hit me over the head and everything went black
