That night the whole Thomas family came and stayed at the Benson ranch. The Thomas' house was in shambles and they had nothing left—for the indians had stole it all. They had no cattle no horses no nothing. In the morning Jonny woke up and stumbled down stairs. "Goodmorning!" came a sweet voice, and Jonny knew the voice was Alisha's. He turned and saw her coming in the front door. "How did you sleep?" "Well, even though many nightmares of indians." she said. "Yeah me too." Jonny exclaimed. "I heard your father talking to my father about our family staying here with you at your ranch for as long as my father would like." Alisha pronounced. "Really? Then I can say I do have a sister! Well kinda." Jonny exclaimed. Alisha laughed. "Well I better go and help your mother cook breakfast." she said. Jonny dashed out the front door into the rising sun. It felt so good but he knew it would be very hot that day. He was so happy that the Thomas's had come to live at his family's ranch that he could not help laughing in excitement to himself. What indian battles they would have and what fun and adventure. He knew he would have fun with Willy. But best of all to have Alisha around. She was so pleasant, brave, and very smart. He knew she would do anything to save someone too like he had done. After breakfast with the whole ranch, father said, "Just to let everyone know that the Thomas's are now our new family!" Jonny looked across the table at Alisha. Her face was shining with happiness. There was something about her that when you looked at her you felt happy too. All that afternoon they all had a great time playing together. Jonny still had to look after the cattle with his brothers and join them in search for their stolen horses every now and then. But it was spring and the indians weren't really coming out quite yet. But things were about to change.
