''Wait, you don't understand-''

''Don't understand what, (Name)? I thought I made it clear he's mine. Yet, you sneak around with him. The one thing I wanted, and you had to go and ruin it. Is that going to be a recurring thing? You, messing things up for us?''

She asked, cutting you off. You felt a bit hurt, but kept trying to be civil.

''This is a misunderstanding, Emma-''

''ThIs Is A mIsUnDeRsTaNdInG, eMmA! Oh quit it will you? The both of you, coming late, looking like you both just woke up and being all giggly? We aren't blind, you bitch. It was pretty surprising, to be honest. Didn't expect the precious swimming instructor to spread their pretty little legs on the third day of camp.''

She laughed in your face, and you started feeling a little insecure. Did everyone really think that? Was that the meaning behind Nick and Kaitlyn's weird looks? All you wanted was to be friends with everyone. You felt anger bubbling in your gut, but insecurity and sadness was creeping into the back of your mind.

''Okay, Emma. Shut your mouth for a second. You have absolutely no fucking idea what you're talking about, yet you still decide to shit talk me? To my face, too, when your facts are all wrong? Nothing happened between Jacob and I. We were late because he broke something. Plus, you and Jacob started going out immediately. Isn't that a little strange since you're saying I'm spreading my legs? You look pretty and all, but sometimes you need to shut the fuck up, because it ruins your image. Was that enough of a misunderstanding? Did you get all that?''

You half yelled, half whispered. You didn't want the children to hear the words coming out of both you and Emma's mouth, and you didn't want to start an argument. You were starting to get a little pissed, and you knew she was the obnoxious type, so she probably wouldn't be backing down from a fight.

After a few seconds of silence, she seemed to have a pleased smile on her face. She extended her hand, looking at you and not breaking the eye contact you both had.

Emma is interested.

''I think I introduced myself wrong. I'm Emma Mountebank, and I'd be happy to be your first-- well, second, friend in camp. I think we'll get along just fine this summer.''

Wow. Shocking. That was definitely not what I expected, I thought she'd hit me or something. But, can't say I'm upset. I like being friends with pretty people.
