[(NAME), TWINS, ROOF.]

FOLLOW THE TWINS TO THE ROOF

PATH CHOSEN

You looked back at the papers on the desk, before bolting to the window. You vaulted over it, your shoes squeaking as they landed on the roof tiles. One came loose, making you lose your footing, but thanks to the agility you had thoroughly worked on this summer, you thankfully didn't slip. The twins helped you regain your footing as you three crawled up to the tallest part of the lodge's roof.

The twins are impressed.

Your bravery has improved moderately. Now 5/ 10.

''What- What even was that?''

You gasped, regaining your breath. You were athletic, sure, but roof climbing wasn't exactly what you had in mind this summer. The twins looked at each other, before brushing off the question. They crawled along side the top of the roof, before sliding off the edge and jumping into a window leading to the attic of the lodge.

''Hey! Answer me!''

You huffed, following in their steps and landing inside not as gracefully as they did.

You found yourself in a dusty attic, with a pair of twins named Caleb and Kaylee, as they had introduced. The air was musty and stale, and the room was filled with old furniture and forgotten belongings. The twins seemed calm and collected, despite the circumstances.

"Welcome to your new humble abode," Caleb said with a grin.

Kaylee nodded in agreement, observing her freshly painted pink nails. "You'll just have to stay in here for a bit, until things settle down."

"What do you mean by things settling down?"

The twins looked at each other, and then back at you. "Well, you see," Caleb started, "there was someone ransacking the lodge."

Kaylee continued, "And we're not sure who it was or if they're still out there. So, we thought it would be safer for you to stay here with us for a while."

I was taken aback by their words. "Safer for me? What do you mean? That was probably one of my friends. They wouldn't make anything unsafe, you know that right?"

Caleb let out a sigh. "Look, we don't want to scare you, but there's been some strange things happening around here lately. We just want to keep you safe."
