Gerard took a deep breath as he leant against the nightclub bar, he was out with a couple of friends for the night and he was relieved to get away for a while; he took a drink of his beer as he wondered what Isla was doing right now.

It had been a month since the argument with her mother and Gerard knew that this could only be the start; he wished they would give him a fair chance.

Gerard wasn't the man that had angrily lashed out to hurt Isla nearly two years earlier, he was a different man and very much in love with their daughter; he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her but he was quite happy to take things slow.

Isla was important to him and Gerard was annoyed that her parents couldn't see that, he closed his blue eyes trying to calm himself as someone sat down next to him at the bar.

"It's so busy tonight," the woman muttered setting her black handbag down on the bar, she had been looking for a place to sit for ages now and she was relieved to find one since she had been on her feet all night.

Gerard just nodded his head and opened his eyes, he wasn't in the mood to deal with some fan right now; he wanted to enjoy his drink and he knew that his team-mates were around somewhere.

The woman looked up and down the bar trying to spot the bartender, she groaned when she saw that he was up the other end of the bar; she was dying for a drink and she had a feeling that she would be waiting a while.

"Just what I need," the woman groaned shaking her head making Gerard snort amused knowing what she meant, he eyed her for a moment; her black hair was styled in a pixie cut and the teal mini-length column lace V-neck dress hugged her curves in the right way.

"I'm Ava, the woman said introducing herself to Gerard, she knew who he was and there was no way that she couldn't know; she was a little excited about this.

"So what do you do for a living?" Gerard asked smiling at Ava, he was surprised at how well he was getting along with her; she was fun and it felt nice just to be able to talk about anything without having to worry.

Ava smiled at Gerard, she was surprised that he had spent most of his evening talking to her; she was sure he would have better things to do but she was enjoying herself.

"I work as a receptionist at a modelling firm," Ava replied with a smile, she crossed her legs and stared at Gerard; they were sitting pretty close now having moved from the bar and over to one of the tables.

Gerard raised an eyebrow at Ava, he was a little surprised by what she had said especially when she was a very beautiful woman; she deserved to be on the cover of magazines not sat behind some desk.

"Really? Not a model yourself?" Gerard asked sipping on his drink, he had lost track of his friends ages ago and he doubted that any of them had realised that he wasn't with them anymore.

Gerard knew that they would probably warn him against what he was doing, he had a lovely girlfriend at home waiting for him; he wasn't doing anything wrong and Isla was at work right now.

"No... I'm not interesting in modelling," Ava replied laughing with a shake of her head, she had heard that a lot from her boyfriend but she wasn't interested in going into modelling she loved her job.

Gerard chuckled, he felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders and couldn't resist leaning forward to kiss Ava; the beer took the edge off his feelings and he moved closer to Ava when he couldn't get enough.

"I have a hotel room down the street," Gerard murmured softly, he wrapped his arms around Ava and smiled down at her before he kissed her again enjoying this more than he should.
