Montserrat Bernabeu sighed staring at her eldest son, she had no idea what to say to him after losing his fiancée; she wished that she knew what had happened especially when Isabel had been perfectly okay earlier that morning.

Gerard sat quietly staring numbly at the wall, he couldn’t believe that he was all alone now and he wasn’t sure if he could go on without Isabel.

“Gerard…” Montserrat whispered moving to sit down next to her son, she was on the board of directors at the hospital and she knew that there were things that needed to be done.

An investigation would be launched to find out why Isabel had died, it had been a horrible shock to lose the new mother while her baby seemed perfectly okay.

“I want the person responsible for this fired…” Gerard murmured making his mother nod her head, he had been in a state of shock and he hadn’t even had the mind to call Isabel’s parents.

Shakira had been horrified at the news of her sister’s death and had done it herself, she hadn’t been able to look at the footballer knowing that this shouldn’t have happened.

“I want to ruin their life just like the ruined mine,” Gerard continued, he couldn’t understand why Isabel had died and they were still waiting on the autopsy to find out the cause.

Montserrat stared at her son, she had never heard him talk like this and she feared the dark path that her son was taking now; he needed to come back before it was too late, Milan had already lost his mother and would need his father.

“Isabel wouldn’t want you to do that,” Montserrat said trying to talk some sense into her son, she feared what he might do when the finger of blame had been cast; she hated to think of what Gerard might be willing to do to make someone suffer.

“Isabel’s dead madre,” Gerard spat pushing himself to his feet and pacing, he didn’t understand how this had happened but someone was going to pay; he would make sure that they knew his pain.

Montserrat sighed and shook her head, she knew he was upset and she hoped that he would calm down; Isabel wouldn’t want him destroying someone’s life in her name.

Gerard stopped when he spotted Isabel’s doctor walking down the corridor, the woman didn’t even looked bothered about what had happened and anger filled him at how calm and relaxed she looked.

“You… you were her doctor,” Gerard snarled storming towards Sharon with his mother hot on his heels, he grabbed a hold of the white lab coat and slammed her into a wall.

Sharon squeaked frightened, her head was a little fuzzy since she’d just been with a couple of other doctors messing around in one of the medicine rooms; it was a perk of her job that she could take whatever she wanted and no one would know.

“It wasn’t my fault,” Sharon denied, she was very aware that she could lose her job and she couldn’t have that happened; she wouldn’t be able to full her drug habit and she had a standard of living to maintain.

Montserrat moved to get her son to release the doctor, she didn’t want him doing something stupid; she hated to think what he was capable of.

“Then whose was it?” Gerard snapped wanting answers, he didn’t care who was responsible; he just wanted them to suffer for the life that they had taken.

Sharon opened and closed her mouth, she knew it truly was her fault but she couldn’t admit it; she would lose her license and her life would be ruined, she needed to find a way to shift the blame to someone else.

Gerard slowly released Sharon and closed his eyes, he didn’t know what to do anymore without Isabel in his life now.

“What am I going to do?” Sharon whispered to her friend as she paced the doctor’s lounge, she knew that she would be under investigation and God only knew what they would find if they opened that can of worms.

Sharon had been involved in several incidents like this in the past two years and someone was bound to notice; she knew what the autopsy would say when it came back.

Fiona Diaz sighed and watched Sharon, she couldn’t believe that the doctor had gotten into this mess; she had pleaded with her not to take drugs and drink when she was at work but Sharon never listened to her.

“I can’t lose my job… I’ll be ruined if they find out I gave her an overdose,” Sharon whispered, she hadn’t read the notes that the nurse had left in Isabel’s file and she had barely checked that she was giving the new mother the right dosage of pain killer when she had given her the final injection.

Fiona stared at her, this was a mess and someone was bound to find out that Sharon wasn’t capable of her job; she was incompetent and a threat to patients.

Sharon wasn’t just looking at losing her jobs but her license to practice medicine, she would end up ruined when this came out and Fiona knew that there had to be something she could do.

“Isn’t there someone else you could blame… who had access to her file?” Fiona offered trying to think, there had to be someone who had been with Isabel that they could shift the blame to; only Isabel would know the truth and she was dead, she wouldn’t be telling anyone what she knew.

Sharon stared at her friend, she swallowed trying to think about what had happened; she knew that this could be her chance to get off clean without any consequences.

“There was this nurse…” Sharon recalled, she couldn’t remember who the nurse was since she didn’t bother to learn any of their names; she recalled how the nurse had approached her concerned about Isabel and she had dismissed her.

Isla quietly stepped into her apartment, she closed the door behind her and rested back against the door as she thought about Isabel; she clapped a hand over her mouth as she started to sob sliding down the door.

Isla knew that if Sharon had listed to her then this wouldn’t have happened, she couldn’t believe that such a beautiful and kind woman was gone from the world because of someone’s laziness.

Taking deep breathes, Isla tried to calm herself knowing that none of this was her fault; she had tried to tell Sharon that something was wrong and she had been brushed off.

Isla felt guilty about what had happened, she wished that she had done something more to help Isabel and she hoped that when the investigation started people like Sharon would lose their jobs.

Doctors like Sharon needed to be dealt with and they were every ignoring the nurses when they tried to alert them to things; they had no respect and this wouldn’t be the first time that something like this had happened.

Isla sat quietly for a moment trying to compose herself, she had no idea what to expect when she went to work tomorrow but she knew the entire hospital would be on edge.

Isabel had been a famous model engaged to marry a famous footballer, her death would have a great effect on everyone; Isla could only imagine the investigation that would take place now.

Slowly getting back to her feet, Isla took a deep breath knowing that she would have to be on her best; she doubted that she could be held accountable for what had happened when she had done her job correctly and Sharon had ignored the notes that she had left in Isabel’s file.
