You mind wondered as you thought about your day. You had gone to the salon and hairdressers with your best friend, to get the full makeover, before going a picking a nice new dress which Mick was keen for you to wear out to this meal tonight. It was the perfect evening for the perfect day.
Birthdays weren't something you had ever celebrated before you'd met Mick. Your parents never had the money to celebrate birthdays and when they did, none of you knew how to.
Mick pulled up in a smart outfit and done up nicely. He opened the car door for you and shut it behind you.
"Are you seriously not going to tell me where we're going?" you asked. "Nope!" Mick exclaimed, pulling away from the drive. It wasn't a long drive before you reached the restaurant that you instantly recognised. Your favourite.
You ordered your food. After not long, you noticed than Mick looked more nervous and fidgety than usual but didn't think anything of it. He was never the most comfortable of people when you went out for dinner. When the pair of you had finished, Mick offered to pay, as it was your birthday, and he wouldn't let it go, so he did and then you headed to the pier for a walk.
As you reached the end of the pier, Mick got down on one knee and pulled the perfectly shaped box out of his pocket.
"Y/N, when I met you at the grand old age of 3, I would never have imagined our lives becoming as amazing as they are. When I was going through some of the hardest things I've been through, you didn't stop being the best friend I needed. You are beyond beautiful, so funny and kind and caring and watching you with kids around the paddock makes me want that for us. I love you beyond words. Will you, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, be my forever and marry me?" he asked you.
During his speech, tears had come to your eyes and were now flowing uncontrollably, ruining your make-up.
"Yes, Mick! One-thousand times yes!" you almost shouted. He jumped up, pulled you into a hug and spun you round, before slowing down and pulling back to kiss you. After a few moments, you pulled apart and he slid the ring onto your finger before you laid your head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around you and looked at the stars above.
You couldn't quite believe what had just happened. Tears continued to flow down your face and as your mind began to process the events, you blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
"You know, Mick? A normal person would just say 'happy birthday'." Y/N said, slightly laughing at the craziness of the situation as she wiped her tears away.
He couldn't help but laugh at the comment.
