Jay's pov:
It has been almost a week since Lloyd and Zane disappeared. Jay had been working on his tracking device for some time now and had already finished it. He was very proud of it and tried to use it on one of their excursions to a hill some days ago. But there was nothing. No signal detected, the only thing it appeared was the tiniest signal Jay had ever seen in his life. But it came from the school. The last place where they were.
Maybe he should recalibrate it again, just to make sure everything was working.
"So strange, I don't see anything wrong" Nya said with the device in her hands.
Jay sighted and let himself fall in the table between him and Nya, he wanted to give up. He had been working on that thing since morning. After many tries with no success or different results he gave up and asked Nya to help him.
At the begging he planed so, to just spend some time with Nya. Jay felt how his anxiety was coming back, but she had been so busy. She stayed with Garmadon checking for possible hideouts. She leaded almost all their expeditions and kept an eye out on the city. Jay knew she could get really determined with something when she put her mind to it, but it wasn't good for her. She didn't sleep well last night, and it was affecting her. Jay's instincts told him to ask Kai to help him talk some sense into her. She needed a break. To his bad luck, her brother wasn't doing any better than her. He was always there with Nya, trying to help on what he could.
"Alright, thanks for the help" Jay said, not moving an inch from his position.
He heard Nya put the tracker away and placing her hand on Jay's head, playing with his hair. It was somehow reassuring, he really missed her. So he couldn't stand watching her overworking herself like that.
"Don't worry, we'll find a solution" She said with a yawn. "I know it"
Jay lifted his head and caught her hand on his. They were cold and he noticed eye's bags on her face forming.
"I know, you're right. But you need to rest. How does taking a nap sounds?" Jay asked with a smile while petting her hand with his.
"Sorry, gotta check on town."
"Not on my guard. Nya seriously, you need a break. You're overworking yourself. Please.
"I know, but... we need to find them. I got to find them..." Nya answered as she lowered her head and looked away.
Jay knew she still blamed herself for it, but it wasn't fair. It was consuming her.
"How about a deal?" He said, gaining Nya's attention back.
"A deal?" Her eyes went back into Jay's eyes.
"Yep, a deal. You rest for the rest of the day and I go to check on town." He spoke.
"That's sweet Jay, but are you sure? Nadakan's still out there and we haven't had... much time to talk... You haven't been so excited to go out there on your own" she said worriedly.
Jay's eyes opened a fraction, it was true. But if going out would help Nya rest and get back to herself, he would do it. No matter if the was a djinn out there, he would do it. For Nya.
"...Don't worry about it, I can handle that" he said with a forced but reassuring smile.
Nya smiled and tightened her grip on Jay's hand.
"Alright" she said before letting another yawn escape.
Jay chuckled at that, she looked really cute. He then helped her up and guided her upstairs to the guest's room so she could sleep comfortably. As Nya felt asleep besides him, Jay paced his hand over her head. It was calming. He really wished he could just stay and fall asleep with her. But he knew he needed to do other things. Very carefully he stood up and excited the room, closing the door behind him.
