Chapter 30

Cole's pov

As they passed through the portal, everything around him spun endlessly. It was just a moment while they were on the portal, but it felt like hours, and it threw them on the streets with such a force they almost face landed with the pavement. Cole's head ached as his tried to focus. He squeezed his eyes shut as all his memories came back at once, making him hold his head with his hand. It took a moment, but everything then went back to normal, and his headache disappeared and letting him focus on what was happening.

"Ow, is everyone alright?" Kai asked while rubbing his head.

"I am, what about you Cole?" Zane said as he stood up.

"Apart from being thrown away by a creepy portal? Yeah, I'm alright"

The portal stayed open with no other movement than itself while the three ninjas stood up again. Surprisingly, they were still in their original suits with armor. The next two people to arrive after a moment were Nya and Jay.

Again, the portal threw them with no justice. Kai caught Nya, although the force she was thrown with was enough to knock the two elemental masters to the ground. All while Cole caught Jay in his arms.

"Are you two alright?" Zane asked as he approached the Smith siblings to help them up.

"Yeah" Nya answered as she stood and cleaned some dust from her suit. Cole let go of Jay, letting him stand on his foot.

The lightning ninja wheezed as soon as his right foot touched the ground, making him lean back on Cole.

"Hey, are you alright?" Cole asked.

"Um- yeah. Just, my foot is asleep I think" Jay answered now standing back up and moving his feet to wake it up. Cole wasn't sure if that was the case, so as soon as he opened his mouth to ask his friend again, the portal threw the two other people remaining.

The master of destruction landed on his foot while the master of energy rolled when hitting the ground and quickly stood up. After making sure everyone was there and safe, the face of the blond boy changed. Now startling at their new yet familiar and unusual environment.

Cole turned back, finally taking the place where they were in. The streets were empty, not even a sound came. The sky was still painted with dark purple clouds that were starting to turn back to grey but now, there were some empty places that let some of the sunlight into the city. It was unsettling, the atmosphere felt different, but Cole couldn't place what it was.

The big rocks still lay breaking through the streets. It gave the whole view a feeling of emptiness that Cole couldn't stand.

"Where is everyone...?" Kai asked quietly, as if something would attack them if they made enough sound. Which was possible at this point.

"I have no idea, maybe we can reach Pixal or Master Wu through our communication devices" Zane suggested.

"Good idea" Cole replied as he got closer to his teammates. He really didn't like the feeling he was getting from the place. Taking the initiative, Lloyd quickly tried to communicate with their others teammates.

"Pixal? Master Wu? Can you hear me?" The green ninja asked while touching the little device on his ear. He then grumped as he took the auricular out to just see it blinking before it completely turned off with some electricity coming out of it.

"Let me see it" Nya said while heading to Lloyd, who passed her the little artifact immediately.

She started to toy with the small device before it got electrocuted again and let smoke escape from it.
