~An hour earlier~
He knew it was foolish to do it. He knew Arthur wouldn't be pleased, actually he'd be furious, with his irrational behaviour if he found out. He knew his carelessness and the stupidity of acting impulsively alongside having no sense of self-preservation despite carrying precious cargo was risky. But before he was even realising it his feet were caring him off to a wing in the castle he never dares approach; certainly not when alone, and certainly when secretly carrying the future heir of Camelot.
Despite every warning sign in him, screaming at him to turn around, he didn't; and that's how he ended in this situation. The curtain was on fire, there were scorched marks on the wall behind Lady Catrina's head, a broken vase shattered around Merlin's collapsed body, and Jonas standing over him. There was shouting for guards and doors slamming open. He tried to move but his head was in agony, all he could do was curl over himself in a protective shield around his unborn child.
"What's happening here?" said the king in his domineering voice, a full-body tremor rippled through Merlin and his heartbeat was thrashing in his ears.
I'm sorry Arthur, he thought as tears feel from his fear-stricken eyes.
"That boy has magic," Lady Catrina said, she looked shell-shocked, but her voice was anything but, it was calm and powerful, "He came in here accusing me of magic and then started attacking me with fire balls!" No, Merlin had gone in to find any evidence of dark magic or something to explain the kings sudden sickening affection for Lady Catrina. But then she and her servant had come in and found him there , she then had Jonas attack Merlin.
The pheromones of an angry alpha suffocated the air and Merlin was shaking and coughing from it.
"Guards, seize him!" Uther ordered. Merlin slipped into unconsciousness as he was being pulled up off the ground.
A/N: And there you have chapter 1! Hope you liked it! Who's looking forward to chapter 2? - Next chapter takes us to two days prior to this chapter and we'll see Arthur and Merlin together being cute and Merlin being pregnant. Xxx
