*Trigger Warning*
This chapter contains homophobic abuse and slurs. Please don't read if you're uncomfortable with this. Sadly this is based on personal experience with my own Grandmother which is why I felt confident enough to include it in the story.

You wake up the next morning with your limbs entangled with Leah's. Your nostrils twitched as the smell of bacon floated up from downstairs. You stretch out causing Leah to grumble and stir.
"Mmm. I don't want to get up." She groaned in her forever sexy morning voice.
"You don't have to. But the smell of that bacon your Mum is cooking is making me hungry." You throw the duvet off you and retrieve your clothing from around her bedroom. You look up as you put your sports bra on to see Leah propped on her elbow looking at you.
"What?" You ask, smirking.
"You're beautiful you know." Leah smiles at you softly, the compliment catching you off guard.
"Thank you. Nothing compared to you though, Le. You're stunning." You walk over to her and dip down to give her a soft kiss on the lips before putting her hoodie back on.
"Wait. I've got another one, save you wearing that one again." She gets up and opens a draw pulling out a burgundy hoodie with a heather grey Nike logo on the front.
"Do you like me wearing your hoodies or something?" You wind her up.
"Yeah. It's like a little bit of me is with you even if you're not." She hugs you tight and hands you the hoodie. Her words paint a smile across your face.
"You're the sweetest." You kiss her once more before pulling the hoodie on and allow Leah to get dressed before heading downstairs towards the smell of the food.
"Morning you two." Amanda greeted you as she looked up from the bread she was buttering.
"Morning, Amanda." You smile, sitting on the sofa delicately.
Leah walks into the kitchen to grab the orange juice out of the fridge and poured both of you a glass.
"Leah, darling. I'm going to get your Dad to fix the headboard on your bed later, I think it's a little loose." Amanda tried to whisper to Leah but you still heard it.
You tried so hard not to laugh. Especially when Leah's cheeks turned the same colour as the bottle of ketchup sat on the side.
"Um, yeah. Thanks Mum. Sorry." She hurriedly walked out of the kitchen to hand you the glass of juice and you had to cough to hide your laugh before taking a sip.
"Shut up." Leah whispered, playfully nudging you.
"Bacon sandwiches, girls?" Amanda called through.
"Yes please!" You both shout back in unison.
You follow Leah to the kitchen table as Amanda sets a bacon sandwich in front of you. She'd cooked it exactly how you like it, really crispy bacon in the thickest farmhouse bread. You grabbed the ketchup, squeezed it on and tucked in.
After breakfast you checked your phone to see your Mum had sent you a text.

Mum

Morning! Hope you had a lovely time with the Williamson family last night! You left your presents here last night, did you want to pop in and get them before you head back? Your grandparents should have left by 11 x

You sigh and rub your eyes.
"What's wrong?" Leah asked, concern etched on her face.
"Nothing. I left my presents at my parents house. I need to go back and get them."
"I can come with you?" Leah offers.
"Are you sure?" You ask, taking Leah's hand in yours.
"Of course." She smiles and pecks you on the lips.
"We'll give it 10 minutes or so, so that my grandparents have left before we get there." You grimace. Leah squeezes your hand in support.
"That's okay." Leah gives you a sympathetic smile and pulls you into her side for a hug.
You give it 15 minutes to be safe before Leah follows you out to your car and you head back to Bletchley to your parents house.
As you drive up the road your heart stops as you go to pull onto the driveway and there's a car there. Their car.
"What is it?" Leah asks, concerned.
"They're still here." You barely managed to choke out.
"Why don't I go and get them? They don't know who I am." Leah holds your hand tight as you begin to shake. You nod slowly.
"Okay. That could work. I'm so sorry to put you in this situation. My Mum said they should be gone by 11, I should've waited-"
"Hey, calm down. It's okay. I'll go." Leah kisses you on the cheek before leaping out of the car and jogging to the front door. Just as she got there you see the front door open and your Gran's figure appearing in the doorway.
"Oh. Um, can we help you?" She looks Leah up and down and it felt like your heart stopped beating.
"Hi. I'm just grabbing some stuff from Angie." Leah stood her ground confidently which you couldn't help but find attractive. But your Gran's eyes went from Leah and trailed down the drive to you. Shit. You fling your door open and get out.
"Le, leave it. Let's go." You shout to her. She looks at you but doesn't move.
"Oh. You just had to come and show your face didn't you? Not only that but you bring another one with you." Your Gran spat.
Leah's mouth opened slightly in shock.
"Excuse me?" Leah said. You were frozen on the spot.
"She knows what I think about your kind. It's disgusting and unnatural and you shouldn't be allowed to live your lives the way you do. You should all be sent to conversion camps, the lot of you!" She said to Leah with gritted teeth.
Leah folded her arms and looked at her.
"I'm sorry my existence seems to offend you but excuse me if I don't give a fuck what you think. She's your flesh and blood and she's done some amazing things in her career and it doesn't even cross your mind to put your small minded bullshit to the back of your head and be proud of your granddaughter?" Leah shouted.
"She's no granddaughter of mine. She's a disgrace to the family name. Living a life of sin is nothing to be proud of." She turned her nose up and went to close the door but Leah wedged her foot against the door. You could hear your Mum and Grandad arguing in the hallway about him not letting her through to diffuse the situation.
"No. You need to look in the mirror, you're the disgrace. You don't deserve to be able to call you her granddaughter and I certainly won't let you stand there and talk utter bullshit about the woman that I love. Sort yourself out." Leah removed her foot and let the door slam. She walked back to you shaking her head in disgust.
You were still stood holding your car door frozen to the spot.
"I'm sorry-" You just about manage to stutter out before the tears swamp your eyes. Leah wrapped her arms around you and holds you tight, letting you sob into her shoulder.
"I'm sorry if I spoke out of turn. I couldn't bare to listen to those things being said about you." Leah stroked your back as you started to regain yourself.
"No, Le. Thank you for doing something I could never do. We need to go." You quickly get in the car and drive round the block to an empty car park so you can compose yourself.
"When you said they didn't agree with it I didn't realise how strongly." Leah stroked your back.
"Yeah, they can be vile. My Mum has told me some of their opinions but I've never heard them for myself." You wipe your eyes with a tissue and blow your nose.
"How comes she didn't come and stop it all?" Leah asks.
"She was trying, I could hear her arguing with my Grandad about it in the hallway. He's a bit of a peacekeeper, if it had been him at the door he wouldn't of bothered, he doesn't really care it's her." You sniff and Leah pulls you against her tight.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that." Leah kisses the top of your head, rubbing comforting circles on your back with her thumb.
"No, I'm sorry you had to go through that, you shouldn't have to." You nuzzle against her neck for comfort.
"I'd do anything for you, that includes shouting at your devil of a grandmother." Leah laughed.
Your head ticked over recalling how confidently Leah had taken her on.
"It was quite hot, actually." You smile, making Leah chuckle.
You froze as you recalled one of the last things that Leah had said 'the woman that I love'. Your head started whirling, did she actually say that or did you imagine it? Is that what you wanted her to say and did she mean it or did she say it in the heat of the moment? Did she love you or had she pitied you so much in that moment that it made her feel that way? Did you ask her about it or not say anything? All you knew was that you love her too.
