"The Yule Ball, is first and for most... a dance..." Mcgonagall said as excited whispers flooded the room. "Silence." Mcgonagall raised her hands. "Now the Yule Ball, is essential away to." She paused. "Let down our hair." She said disapprovingly as if what she had just said was distasteful. Lavender Brown laughed hysterically, which at first made Harry want to bat the girl out of the classroom, but then he realised that it was funny because Mcgonagall always had her hair tied in a tight bun. (For real though in the Order of the Phoenix, when Harry has that vision, and she has to get him at night so she doesn't have time to do her hair. She looks absolutely fab with her hair down, like literally ten years younger just like that) Mcgonagall's nose flared at the young girl which quickly silenced her. "As I was saying." She said continuing to glance at Lavender, "The Yule Ball is a dance. Now it is only open to fourth years and above, but if you'd like to invite someone younger that is fine. NOW..." She shouted getting the full attention of everyone in the room. "This does not mean that there will be any relaxation on our rules and how we conduct ourselves, I will be seriously displeased to know if any Gryffindors have embarrassed this school in front of other school at this dance. Do I make myself clear?" Mcgonagall said sternly making the whole room murmur a yes. "Good." Mcgonagall spoke. "Now it is on the night of Christmas Eve and you must find a partner to dance with. If you don't well." Minerva thought you'd be a massive saddo but she kept that to herself.

On the other side of school a certain Slytherin with the rest of Slytherin house we're having a similar lecture that Oscar very much couldn't be bothered with. He was glad that after the... incident. That no one had approached him to question about what had gone on in the forbidden forest, he couldn't bare to think of what happened. When the lecture was finished Oscar left for the library as fast as possible, two questions needed to be answered.
A. Why was Mog still alive?
B. What was happening to him?
Quickly he got his books on languages and familiars, and sat on the windowsill to get as much sunlight as possible, Oscar liked the sun, it's warmth one of the few comforts to him as it spread through his body and the light made him feel fuzzy. Opening his book he started reading. After a few hours a certain Beauxbaton's student skipped in with a new friend she had made from Ravenclaw. Scanning the library she found Oscar and smiled, walking up to him. "Hey Oscar." Oscar looked up and smiled meekly. "Hey Megan, who's this?" He questioned looking over to see a white haired girl, with cute, little beetroot earrings, dreamy blue eyes and slightly freckles skin, and a warm, joyful smile. "This is Luna Lovegood." She said beckoning her friend forward. "Nice to meet you Luna, oh sorry I've actually been meaning to find you but I didn't really know what you look like I'm really sorry." Oscar said jumping down from the windowsill. "Why did you want to find me?" She said dreamily with her angelic voice. "Because these lads had stolen some of your belongings and hid them and I caught them doing. Sorry I should have intervened but I just wasn't in the mood for a fight that day." Oscar replied kindly. "Oh it's fine I'll find them later." Luna waved it off. "Anyway I wondering if I could hang with you two because you both seem nice. I saw Megan helping the people around her in class. And I see you always helping people at any chance you get and showing them kindness." The two couldn't help but go red from embarrassment at what Luna had said. "Thanks Luna that means a lot, and yeah definitely you can hang out with us. I'm really sorry about how others treat you people can be cruel." Oscar bitterly said, remembering the rumours people were spreading about Luna. "It's ok really." She said happily. The three stood in comfortably silence until Megan finally spoke. "So did you get the answers you were looking for?" Oscar looked up. "I might have on my second question, one of the things I've looked through seems it could be possible." Oscar said shrugging as Megan nodded eager to hear. "In this book, it says in times as old as Autharian, witches would speak in Latin and Ancient Welsh to speak magic. And so perhaps it's a magical awakening in my blood because maybe I have a direct ancestor from those times." Oscar said before laughing. "Yeah no... I don't think so, but hey I can just leave it at that." Oscar said still chucking. "And what about your first question?" Megan asked curiously. "Nope nothing about why a familiar might survive the killing curse." Oscar stated. "Oh that's quite simple." Said Luna, making the two turn to her in shock. "How so?" Oscar questioned. "Well a familiar is a spirit guardian from the other world. One who's soul purpose is to be a guardian and protector. And that bond is so powerful it can rival that of your magical mate. So because it's a spirit from the world of the no longer living. And it's bond to you which acts as an anchor to the living world. Your familiar can't die." Luna finished, smiling sweetly at the stunned expressions of her two knew friends. "LUNA YOU ABSOLUTE GEM!" Oscar shouted happily as he hugged the Ravenclaw. Luna smiled happily as she was overjoyed to have helped someone. Coughing to get their attention the two broke up and looked at Megan. "Anyway... more importantly. WHO ARE YOU GONNA ASK TO THE BALL?!" Megan squealed with excitement. "I don't really know." Luna replied dreamily. "You see all guys here are either disgusting human beings inside or the good one are all practically taken so..." Megan said excitedly, practically jumping up and down. "We should all go together as friends, the Weasley twins are coming with as well." Megan almost shouted, Oscar smiled he liked the twins and over time they had become good friends however his smile faded, remembering a certain Gryffindor. "I will probably come with but..." Oscar trailed off. "You're thinking about Oliver?" Megan looked at him slightly sad. "Yes, but... I'm still mad at him but... I would be lying if I said I didn't want him to ask me out to the ball." Oscar almost whispered. "Aww that's ok besides I have Luna and the twins. We'll look fab." She said reassuringly. "It's fine anyway I can't go I don't have anything to wear." Oscar laughed making Megan go wide eyed. "Oh no... no, no, no, no." Megan shook her head. "Absolutely not, I'm personally not letting this happen. YOU ARE NOT MISSING THIS THING!" Megan almost yelled but was hushed by Oscar as he looked around to see if there were anyone else nervously. "Right what are you getting me." Oscar finally asked after becoming increasingly more exasperated by Megan's persistence. "It's traditional dress robes from France, literally Prince level of style." Megan said proudly. Slapping his hand over his face. "Megan... what will I look like." Oscar murmured. Thinking for a moment Megan's face lit up, "you know that film franchise the Lord Of The Rings?" Megan said slowly. "No Megan, I don't know the best thing on the planet by far." Oscar chuckled sarcastically. "You're not gonna make me look like Gandalf are you?" Oscar laughed. "Oh my god stop that would be amazing but no. You know when Aragorn gets crowned and all the elves come over to congratulate him." Oscar nodded slowly. "Well remember Legolas and that white, pearl, silver, stary, silk top he was wearing, it kinda looked like Mithril and also his small elf crown." Megan continued. "Oh my god stop. Not saying I wouldn't look sensational, but Megan it's not a wedding." Megan waved off the reply. "It's a Christmas ball so there will be frost and snow, so you'll blend in perfectly. Besides I have something similar and it doesn't look exactly like what Legolas wore." Megan reassured. Finally Oscar nodded which made Megan jump on the spot excitedly.
