"Who the hell even are you?"

Thank you for waiting for updates. I've been so busy. I love you all.

His office door was open when Kaitlin got there. He was sitting at his desk - looking as handsome, and as calm, as ever - typing on his keyboard. She stood in his doorway for a moment, trying to decide what to say.

Moments passed.

She couldn't decide.

She heard Christian - Adam, even - exhale. Stop typing. And watched as he shifted slightly so that he could look toward her. "You've been standing there for a while," he stated, rather robotic-like. His eyes gave away no emotion. His face was a sea of calm - it annoyed her.

Lewis had killed someone. Adam knew about the arrest. He was pretending that nothing had happened.

"That's it? That's all you've got to say?" She scoffs, finally stepping into the room. She felt hungover. Her head hurt. Her stomach churned. The light was too bright. It was too much. He was too much. His casual voice - his relaxed attitude - was too much.

Adam raised a brow. He leaned back in his seat. "Close the door." He exhaled as if he knew where this was going.

Kaitlin glared at him. "Worried that someone might hear what I have to say?", she dared. Adam didn't reply for a short moment. He simply watched her. Weighing up the situation. Deciding what the right thing was to say. "Worried, Adam?", she purred his real name as if it were a sin.

He rose to his feet. Straightened out his suit. "Not at all. I wouldn't want your outburst to disrupt any students from their lectures across the hall," He replied. His lips tilted upwards. Annoyance burned her skin. Her cheeks heated. Nonchalance radiated from every inch of him. He was very good at appearing collected, and she despised it.

Kaitlin finally stepped inside. Slammed the door behind her. "Who the hell even are you?" She whispered, turning to face him again. Adam felt his spine stiffen at the door being shut, and him being trapped in this room alone with her.

The strawberry-blonde girl stood at the closed door, watching him stand before his desk, both of their eyes locked with each other. There was no hint of amusement on Adam's face as he placed his hands into his suit pants pockets, leaning his ass against his desk, and crossed his legs at the ankles.

"You shouldn't ask questions that you won't like the answers to," he seems to purr, sounding gentle and comforting, but the words are cold like ice.

Kaitlin took two more steps into the room, closer to her professor. "You took me to your home, you - I mean, I kissed you," she almost seethes, green eyes sparkling with fury and sadness. He was somebody else, somebody that she didn't know, and he hadn't bothered to tell her. "I deserve to know the truth," she concluded, taking two more steps.

Inches lay between them, mere inches, but at this moment in time, Kaitlin felt a million miles away. His features were hard, his jaw was tight, his brows furrowed and his nose flared with confusion. He shouldn't tell her - it would go against everything he should do, but he wanted to tell her more than anything.

"How did you know that Lewis had killed someone? How did you know that the party was going to get raided? How the fuck did you know?", she hissed.

Adam bit his tongue at the profanity. "Everything I ever said to you was true, I didn't lie about anything, not about how you can do better than him, not about how good your writing is, how amazing your mind is," he began, and when he started, he couldn't stop. His words spewed out like rain from the sky on a stormy night. "When I found you on the floor that night, after the party when you were broken - I," he licked his lips, pushing himself from his desk.
