Jenna's POV
Y/n decided on our way to the Botanical Gardens, our last stop before we returned to the Parthenon, that she wanted to go into a convenience store.
"Why? We have no money." I questioned her as we walked down the street, away from the small Greek bistro we just ate at.
"Or are you just going to use your irresistible charm again?" I said sarcastically. She smiled at me gleamingly, making it hard not to adore it.
"Look, I just want to do something real quick, okay? It won't take long." She explained. I looked at her suspiciously, wondering what she was scheming.
We entered the open air shop that was down the road from the restaurant. A middle-aged man sat behind the register reading the paper, paying no mind to us. The store was very small, and the only sound was of a fan creaking while it spun.
We disappeared into one of the few aisles filled with paraphernalia typical for a shop like this.
"Are we looking for anything in particular?" I whispered, leaning in close. I could smell her flowery scent radiating off her clothes being that close to her.
"Uh, yeah, but can you actually ask how to get to the gardens? I forgot." Y/n turned to face me, and we made eye contact.
"Does that guy know English?" I nodded back toward the man behind the register.
"Everyone here knows English. The tourism here is crazy." She said, "You'll be okay." She gave a reassuring smile.
"If you say so." I walked away and up to the counter. The man didn't seem to notice me, as his eyes stayed glued to his newspaper. I cleared my throat, and he finally caught my eye.
"Hey, um, do you know how I- I mean, we- can get to the botanical gardens from here?" I stumbled over my words, making me want to die inside. The man grunted at my attempt to communicate.
"Go down this road, take a left till you reach Melina's, take a right and ride till you see it." He stated.
"Thank you, sir." Y/n said behind me. I jumped at the sound of her voice, not knowing she was right beside me.
"We'll be on our way now." Y/n said, and quickly got the both of us out of the shop. Once we reached the beaten stone road, I turned to her.
"What was that about?" I asked, confused at the whole encounter. She looked behind her, before reaching into her shirt. She pulled out a new disposable camera.
"We did all of that for you to steal something?" I yelled in disbelief. She quickly shoved her hand over my mouth.
"Hey, relax. It's not worth over ten bucks." She explained. I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out to touch her hand. She gave a cocky scoff at my feeble attempt to get her hand off.
"You think I'm afraid of a little bit of tongue from you?" She smirked. The sentence gave me instant butterflies, whether she meant the way I wanted her to mean or not.
Speechless and humbled, my tongue slowly reentered my mouth. My heart pounded at the sudden tension, and I knew she was feeling it too. It felt wrong, and dangerous, what we were doing out in public like this- but in the moment, there was nothing on our minds but each other. The combination of desirable lust, and the feeling that we couldn't- shouldn't - be as close as we were, with the forbidden attraction pulling our bodies together nonetheless, made the restraint of crashing my lips onto hers nearly impossible. Every fiber and nerve in my body seemed to be on fire, and trying to pull away from her before arousing suspicion, was like pulling two magnets apart.
