T/W: Mention of grief
In the darkest hours of the night, Yoongi jolted awake with a sharp gasp as his phone started to ring. It was a chilly night; hence he had pulled his blankets over his head, but he kicked them out of his way as he rushed to his closet and aimed his emergency clothes for this urgent occasion, he was expecting to happen for quite some time.
The routine that usually took him around 20 minutes, only took him 8 minutes. He dashed towards his car and fumed as he realized he had forgotten his keys. Running back inside to grab the keys and back to the car. 10 minutes had passed already. He knew his purpose on this specific night, he knew his mission and determination. He drove through the city as if there were no rules and no traffic lights. He finally arrived at the hospital's parking lot.
As soon as the huge sliding glass doors opened for him to enter, the smell of hand sanitizers and latex gloves hit his nose. He ran to room 202, which was not difficult to find. It stood out since the hallway to room 202 was already filled with garlands and flowers from various companies. He couldn't help but snicker at the messages congratulating "Chairman Jackson" as if he had been the one carrying the baby for 9 months in his belly. As he realized that he was in front of the white smooth door, which had silver numbers 2 0 2 engraved on it, he took a deep breath and clapped into his hands to regain his focus and get his good motivation after the stressful drive. A nurse told him very gently to be quiet since this was the maternity birthing section in the hospital. He knew he had to calm down since the floor was probably filled with mothers that didn't want their newborns to wake up in the middle of the night. But how could he even stay calm? He barely could contain his excitement to see Jackson, his wife, and their newborn baby.
His friend basically stepped into fatherhood, and he liked to address himself as an unofficial uncle now. He knocked on the door and to his surprise someone opened it before he could grab the doorknob, a woman he couldn't recognize at that moment. He quickly skipped to Jackson, who was holding the newest member of his family. It was bundled in soft towels and blankets, and it arrived healthily to this world, which was definitely bigger than his mother's belly. Yoongi was charmed by the beauty of this baby. He stood there, scared to even talk, and stared at the baby with the softest expressions he could. Jackson had to snap his fingers to take his attention.
Yoongi stretched his arms as if it was his right to get the baby immediately. He almost forgot his manners as he entered the room and made sure to greet Jackson's wife and tell her congratulations. She looked horribly exhausted. Her pinkish eyebags told a lot, she must be sleep-deprived, and Yoongi felt out of place and guilty for rushing there at this hour. It was clear that she was in desperate need of a restful sleep, more than anything else at that moment.
But it was a deal, he wanted to be the first person to see the baby after the parents. However, the existence of another stranger dawned on him as he looked away from the tired mother and glanced over to the second woman in the room. She wasn't a nurse, but Jackson's sister-in-law. He squinted his eyes at Jackson who snorted because Yoongi was officially, to his distaste the second person to see the baby now.
As he extended his arms once more, Jungkook got placed tenderly on his chest. A gentle warning to hold his head wasn't missed, but little did they know that Yoongi already educated himself on everything: how to hold a baby, how to sing a soothing lullaby, knowing when to feed and change diapers- although he didn't think he would have any opportunities to put this knowledge into practice, but it was making him feel bubbly to imagine what he could do with this baby. Gosh... he loved babies.
"This is Jungkook." Jackson added after he stepped back to see how Yoongi got his moment with his son. The grown man gulped gently, scared he might be too loud to disturb the peace. Jungkook looked like an angel. How could you exist for a few hours in this world and already be so charming and meltingly cute? Yoongi nuzzled his nose on Jungkook's little head, he smelled like a baby... unsurprisingly. It felt like sitting on a cotton candy after running down stony hills. Holding Jungkook felt like a warm hug after a cold winter. Every concern in his heart was erased at that same minute. Jungkook was the most innocent life being he ever hold in his hands. It was a delightful moment and surreal at the same time... every tender and affectionate cell in him awoke, while the bliss and joy were so high that it felt otherworldly.
