*Dina's POV*

I was surprised but excited to hear that Savannah's assistant, Erin, was interested in being a caregiver for Molly. The girl has gone through a lot and, quite understandably, hasn't been herself. Forced by circumstance to live with her ex-mommy hasn't made the situation any easier for her. She's been closed off, only letting small glimpses of her authentic little self out, and never when Savannah was around.

Molly was... unenthusiastic... about the news that Erin was interested in her. It hasn't even been a month since her bizarre falling out with Samuel, so we were unsurprised that she reacted in such a way.

"I'm not meeting your stupid assistant." Molly said dismissively to Savannah when she brought up the idea.

"Molly, I know you're going through a tough time right now. But we're worried about you. I'm worried about you." Savannah replied.

"Since when do you give a flying fuck about me?" Molly asked harshly, causing Savannah's eyes to glimmer with forming tears at the accusatory question.

"I've always cared for you Molly. Really, always." Savannah responded, doing her best to keep composed. "Was I good at showing it when you were mine? Absolutely not. And I regret that every single fucking day. You deserve to be loved and cherished and cared for and protected. You deserve to be your authentic self, Molly. And I now for a fact that you've been suppressing your little side a lot lately. I know you well enough to recognize how much discomfort and anxiety that has caused you. Erin can be an opportunity for a fresh start. Will you give her a chance?"

After a bit more prodding and convincing, Molly finally succumbed to our incessant request and we were able to schedule a time on a Saturday for Erin to come over and see her.

Today is that Saturday.

Erin will be here any minute. Savannah's been meticulously cleaning the whole house, making sure it was spotless for the meeting. She only ever cleans this much when she's anxious, so she must be anxious as all hell right now.

"Babe, you don't need to wipe down every nook and cranny of the place." I said to her with a chuckle. "You are literally Erin's boss. What's she gonna do, laugh at a speck of dust in the corner?"

"Oh fuck off, D." She said, barely paying me any mind before I responded.

"Excuse me?" I replied sternly, making my stunning woman stop in her tracks. It took all of my power not to smirk at the worried look that spread over her face. "Do you need a reminder of who you're speaking to?"

"No, I'm sorry. Please." She begged, forcing the smirk to finally form on my lips.

"Come here." I said with firm gentleness. She made her way over to my outstretched arms, melting into my embrace.

"Everything is going to be fine." I said, sensing her extraordinary nervousness.

"But how do you know?" She asked, not removing her head from my chest.

"Because no matter what happens, we still have each other, and we both still have our little Abigail." I said into the top of her head.

"You're right." Savannah admitted, taking a sharp exhale. She craned her neck up and gave me a deep kiss.

We weren't even a few seconds into the anxiety-driven make-out session before we heard snickering from the stairs.

"Mommy and Mama sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G." Abigail recited with a giggle.

"I think we have a certain little spy in our midst." I said, keeping my eyes on Savannah's but being loud enough for Abigail to hear, causing the little girl to burst into adorable laughter.

With that, we heard a knock at the door. Abigail went running down the stairs towards the sound.

"Hey!" Savannah spoke loudly. "No running in the house, Abigail."

Without even acknowledging her Mama's reminder of the rules, Abigail opened the door a crack.

"What's the secret password?" She asked the person at the door.

"Hmmm, I think the password is 'If Abigail lets me in she'll get a candy.'" Said the voice who was clearly Erin.

Abigail's eyes widened, excited at the very mention of candy.

"Correct! Correct! Come in!" She cheered, bouncing on her toes as Erin emerged through the door.

"Thank you for letting me in, Ms. Abigail." Erin said with a joyful smile, handing our little the candy that was promised. Abigail immediately began unwrapping it, popping what looked like a blue jolly rancher into her mouth.

"Hey!" Savannah shouted half-playfully. "You need to ask before you have candy, baby girl."

"Bu- Erin said I could!" Abigail whined around the hard candy in her mouth, her eyes getting bigger with worry.

"I only gave you the candy." Erin defended herself. "I don't remember saying you could eat it."

Abigail whined again, her face morphing into puppy dog eyes that begged not to have to give up the candy she was already enjoying.

"You're a natural." I said to Erin with a laugh, seeing how much caregiver instinct she had before she even put it into serious practice. "Abigail, you may finish the candy, but in return I want you to go upstairs and get Molly, okay?"

She nodded, excited to be able to enjoy her sweet, and took a few running steps toward the stairs.

"No running, baby!" Savannah yelled. "I don't need you falling. Or choking. Or both."

Abigail just giggled and hopped up the stairs a bit more carefully. A moment later she came down with Molly following hesitantly behind.

"Here she is!" Abigail announced cheerfully, making the adults in the room gush a little bit.

"Hi Molly!" Erin said with a nervous excitement.

"Hi." The girl replied with a slight wave, looking both shy and unconvinced by the woman's presence.

"I know it's been a little while since we last saw each other. Do you remember me?" Erin asked.

Molly nodded, keeping her eyes fixed to her shoes. She carried Rosie in her arm, clutching the koala tight to her chest. Abigail had been kind enough to let her keep the stuffie, given everything she's gone through.

After a brief moment when it was clear nobody knew what to say next, I chimed in.

"So how about lunch?"

💜I'm sorry for the inconsistent updates recently! With school, work, and personal things going on, I haven't had much brainpower to dedicate to writing. But I have some ideas for new stories and more adventures for our favorite little family. As always, thank you so so much for the love and support!💜
