Chapter 1
Drew's POV
These 8+ hour flights are something you can never get used to. They are horrible every time no matter how many we have already been on. Luckily, we have finally arrived at our new house. It is about 2:00 am and I am so exhausted.
Every time we move to a new town for a mission, we tend to come late at night to not draw much attention to ourselves on the first two days. We need the first day to set everything up and get into our fake personas. As well as scope out the town.
Once we all unpack our things, which is just one suitcase, we head downstairs. Because we move a lot and never set roots in one place, we don't have many personal possessions.
"Okay so on Wednesday you all will be starting at Vanderbilt Prep High School" my mom says.
Vanderbilt Prep High School is the 25th school that we will be at. However, this one is a bit different then all the others. It is the richest school in the USA and one of the most expensive high schools in the world. It is also one of the hardest schools to get into. The waitlist is years long. The chances you actually get a spot is less than two percent.
Mr. Hayes got us in by making a deal with one of the chairmen who had some tax inconsistencies. Besides having the chairmen vouching for us, it also made it easier to get in considering our test scores and that we are a supposedly extremely wealthy family.
Vanderbilt Prep is in the town of Richview and like its name, it is a very rich town. Most of the graduates go to ivy leagues or top ranked universities. In other words the school and city is filled with snobby entitled rich kids.
Our mission here is to go undercover as students to figure out which of the three suspects is behind the money laundering and bribery. The three suspects are also the three richest families in town: the Vanderbilts, the Duncans, and the Taylors.
All three families have ties to the school through the board of directors, chairmen, and have children that attend the school. We are in charge of investigating the school by learning everything we can while attending classes. As well as getting close to someone that is part of each family.
"Here are your family backgrounds" my mom hands us our folder. "From now on we will be known as the Brooks. Originally from New York. And we moved here so that you all could attend Vanderbilt"
"Ugh I have to take AP Calculus again" Victoria sighs.
With each debrief we are given our backgrounds, school schedules, identification, and any other information we need for the case. We all finished high school when we were 16, but because the majority of our cases require us to go to school, we have taken the same classes over and over again.
"I'd take that over AP Literature" Killian says.
"I know how much you all hate this part of the job, but it needs to be done. And since you have taken these classes so many times then you don't have to worry about failing them" my dad says.
"Alright everyone to bed. We got a busy day tomorrow"
Dad is right. We all hate that we have to do classes every time we have a new mission, but it is part of the job. Me and my siblings love what we do and enjoy it. When we first started we were never forced. Our parents let us decide whether we wanted to be agents or not. And if one of us wants out then we can stop whenever we want.
Nothing beats the thrill of going undercover and beating criminals. And we are the best when it comes to teen agents. We have yet to fail one assignment.
..............
Although we are starting school a month late we still take an entire day to do our own research aside from the information our parents already did for us. We are the ones responsible for the majority of the mission. We decide the strategy and how to execute it.
The Vanderbilts are one of the oldest families in town and the richest one. Charles Vanderbilt was the founder of Vanderbilt Prep. Every single Vanderbilt has attended this school since it was formed. They have ties to the town in almost everything. They are the most powerful and influential.
Currently the only family members attending the school are Blair Vanderbilt-FitzGerald and Kendall Vanderbilt-Stewart. They are cousins, but our main focus is on Blair because of her mother.
It wasn't hard to find information on Blair. She is a senior, head cheerleader, honor student, and daughter of Catherine Vanderbilt. Catherine is the one currently in charge of Vanderbilt Enterprises. She is also one of the school's chairmen and basically the leader of this town.
The other two families also have children in the school that we researched. Connor Duncan and Jake Taylor. Both absolutely dull stereotypical jocks. Blair is definitely the most interesting one out of the three.
From their social media accounts, we found out that all three are part of the same friend group, which can make things a bit easier for us. By getting close to one of them we will be close to the other two. We also learned that Blair and Connor are dating. This could be something big to focus on considering that they are part of the two richest families in Richview. Their families could be working together.
There is something about Blair though. I can't yet put my finger on it, but just from her socials I can tell there is something she is hiding. And I intend to figure out what it is.
