Monday morning is usually the slowest in the shop but it seemed like this was the day that everything would change. The morning’s baking went smoothly enough but this time there was something different about the pair. Maybe it had to do with the fact that the room was filled with love. It was thick with stolen glances, and soft laughs. The whole morning was about dancing around the kitchen and stealing kisses when they could. It was one of the perks of working with the person you cared about most in this world.

Daphne hummed happily along to the music that played in that kitchen, Harry sung along instead, his husky voice in her ear as he moved to the oven. Daphne couldn’t remember the last time she baked with such love in her heart. She just laughed and baked and admired the curly-haired male she called her own.

As the front of the shop was filled with their goods, the line began to form outside. Daphne was rather surprised to see more people than ever waiting for them to open. She looked outside and gently pulled Harry to look out the window.

“We’re going to need more scones, darling.” Daphne breathed as she pulled the boy by his necklaces.

Harry just looked at the line and then down to her, the smile spreading across his cheeks as he pulled her in for a kiss. He was now the one dragging her into the office, kissing her senseless. He pulled her hips to his and smiled against her lips.

“More days like this and this bakery will be saved and it’s all because of you.” Harry told her as he rubbed her sides with his hands.

“No,” Daphne stammered as she brought him down to kiss him again, enjoying the feeling of his lips on hers.

“Yes!” He argued as he nipped her lips, “You and those beautiful sweets filled with love.” He looked down at her with excitement in his eyes, “Let’s open.”

Daphne let body move away from his at those words, her fingers being the last to leave him and the necklaces that were caught between her fingers falling back to his chest. She quickly swung around the office and kitchen openings before she moved to unlock the door and switched the sign over.

Daphne greeted all the customers, smiling at the new and familiar faces that entered. She quickly moved behind the counter and started filling orders. People couldn’t even get out the door before the food was in their mouths.

What happened next could only be called somewhat of its own myth. Daphne watched as people who ate their treats began to turn towards others and would reach out to tell them something sweet or embrace ones they knew. It wasn’t everyone, but the ones who lacked one key component in their lives: love. The others who had come in with their significant other seemed to fall in love all over again, their eyes glazed over.

Daphne paused and couldn’t help but smile happily. She called for Harry to help her in the front. Before he could come out she grabbed his apron and pulled him down to her so she could whisper in his ear.

“They’re falling in love; all kinds of love.” She whispered, “Platonic, romantic, friendly… watch!” She let go and immediately moved to finish the orders.

Harry was confused at Daphne’s words. He knew that her sweets had this special component but he was amazed to see how bright and happy these people were in his shop and their smiles as they left to continue their day. The town often seemed to get on well enough but this was something for anyone’s eyes.

Harry thought it was a fluke at first, that maybe people were just having a really good Monday, as tough as it was to believe. Then he began to think that there was something in Daphne’s baking that changed people for the better.

When Tuesday came along, the same thing happened. People were happy; a few of the younger people who Harry knew to be single were walking around holding hands in pairs. They struggled to keep up with the orders that came in. People wanted cakes and pies; they wanted treats to send to their relatives in other towns and cities. Things were looking up.
