As I was escorted to the bathrooms, I didn't speak to the guard nor even looked at him. The guards grip was only tight on my arm, as he spoke.
"This better not be an escape 153." I only shook my head, I glanced to the ground, where only specks of blood brushed like paint to the ground from my bloodied clothes. When we came to the door, he stopped, pushing the door open and gesturing for me to step in. Once I walked in the pitch black room, the lights scattered on. one by one.
The small beeping of the metallic robot squeaked asking for my ID number. "153" I spoke softly, the pills a pasted texture against my cheeks, I wanted to gag with the chemical taste, that glistened over my taste buds. The robot scanned my face, than opened a hatch underneath, giving me a portion of liquid soap, for my entire body and clean clothes. I nodded taking the items, walking to the far cubical.
The cubical didn't even ensure privacy, the walls were halved, just enough to cover our bodies, and depending on height our faces and heads from others. The doors to the cubical wasn't even the height of the halved walls, a strip of metal covered landscape way across, again hiding out bodies, but it didn't necessarily cover our bodies. I placed my clothes and small soap cup on the bench as the door closed, I stripped quickly, turning the water on and looked around for cameras quickly, even in here there were cameras, watching us.
I pushed my body against the cold tile wall and spat against the wall, as the wall covered my face as I wiped the pills with water to the ground, stepping back I could see the camera on the corner of the wall on the other side of the room, I washed my body as quickly as i could, as thoroughly as I could, to get the distinct metallic smell of my body. but it was no use, i could smell it, even through the soap.
It was a Blur of what I could remember before being taken. I was five, I remember the day, remember like it was yesterday. It was winter, it was snowing, I was outside building a snowman with the young boy from next door, than the sirens blew, so loud, so ear piercing. My mother came out screaming for me, grabbing me leaving me startled as i was placing rocks in the snowman's body. The Boys mother did the same. My mother ran me inside, taking my snow coat off and my boots.
"Mama, my snowman."
I was Ignored, she threw the jumper that I had in the fire that kept us warm most nights, and the only pair of shoes that I had in to. I began to cry "Listen to me baby, we going to play a game of hide and seek. If you hide from the guest that are coming than we buy you a new jumper and new shoes." I nodded whimpering and sniffling.
"You have to be quiet okay? really really quiet." She whispered, and I nodded. The sounds of heavy banging on doors, and "open ups!" only echoed through our house,
"Mommy where do I hide?" The loud banging only scaring me causing me to jump.
"In the vent... please Maddy they wont even look in there and you'll be safe." I only nodded as my mother walked me to the small vent that was on the ceiling, she picked me up and climbed on top of the counter, picking my up higher to crawl in it. "Maddy quick."
I crawled in by my arms, than pulled my body in, when I got in the tight vent, it was dark. My mother handed me a necklace, a silver chain with a single diamond attacked to it, "This will keep you safe. Now find a hiding spot." She closed the vent, and screwed the screws in as fast as she could.
"I love you Maddy." as she hopped of the counter, and than there was a knock at the front door.
I didn't move, I could not move, The Guards in white only strolled in, with batons in there white gloved covered hands. "Maria Vonclout, we are here on behalf of the GRO we are collecting the children, now hand over yours."
"I don't know what you are talking about? I have no child." My mother said, the guards pushed passed and walked around the small studio that we lived in, ripping the bed over and opening every kitchen cabinet. One looked inside the fireplace and placed his hand up in a stop sign.
"Maria, where is the child." the guard only spoke.
"Maria we are going to look after her, now where is Maddy?" I couldn't see the guard that spoke, he was in the kitchen but away from the vent.
Put I glanced to my mother whose face turned angry, her blue eyes sparking of anger, but before she could speak, a bullet went through her forehead, and she dropped to the ground instantly, there was no more words from her, her face went back to being peaceful her eyes softening, the blood squirting from her head trickling over her features and turning her blonde hair red.
I only screamed.
"2 minutes left 153 " I snapped from my memory and played with the small diamond necklace, that the guards had allowed me to keep, I would never take it off, no matter what. As the water stopped trickling, a small box on the side of the wall opened where a towel was, I dried myself and placed the new white clothes on my body. Putting the blood stained shoes back on my feet, as I walked out of the Shower cubical, with the blood stained clothes in my hands, i placed them in the Laundry bin. Turning and looking to the mirror that was before me, looking at the blonde hair that covered my head and the blue eyes that stared back to me, I was a replica of what my mother looked like, from what I could remember.
